I think this is going to be my answer, too--for all of E3. I could ask for so many things that I think I want and would like to have on the show floor--but at the end of the day, what I want most of all is to be left excited...completely and utterly excited to distraction.

Naturally, I'd love for the show to proffer a huge crop of games that I'd want--Rik's Star Fox, Banjo and Wave Race wishes make me salivate every time I read them--but I feel now that the best way to enjoy E3 and temper my expectations is just simply to hope that I go away feeling excited. Wave Race and Banjo feel so remote that I can't put them down on a wish list because that'd risk undermining my enjoyment of E3 if I genuinely entertained the idea of them, but if I just say "I want to be excited" then that still gives me room quietly to hope without recognising those games outright.

You're going to be disappointed.

I wont be disappointed because I do have realistic expectations and in all likelihood it wont go beyond what I wish for.

So you want marketing bullshit?

Anyway, my wishlist:

PS4, Xbox 3. Not going to get either of those I bet.

A reduction in the amount of strawberry floating shite gifs being reposted from Neogaf would be nice.

Nintendo:
- Nintendo U to launch Xmas 2012, priced £250-300, Launches with NSMBMii, Pikmin 3 and an HD update of Wave Rave: Blue Storm.
- A range of HD-enhanced GC games is announced, with REmake, Starfox and Mario Sunshine in the first wave.
- Directors Cut Wind Waker announced for the 3DS/U with additional dungeons. Graphically it looks the same on 3DS as GameCube.
- Nintendo Network rollout begins in July with a firmware update allowing Wii owners to register all their Wii shop purchases with their account to redownload on U.
- A Wii-design is shown off, with GC-support cut and a thin exterior similar to the PSTwo. Priced at £99 with M+ bundle.

Sony:
- Playstation SDK relaunched as the Playstation 4.
- PS4 to launch as a software platform across PC's, Mobile, TV's and a dedicated box. The internal tech is licenced out to 3rd party manufacturers like Samsung and Toshiba for integration into Laptops, Tablets, TV's and Blu-ray players which can all connect to the PSN and download titles to whatever storage you USB in. Game saves and profiles are all saved to your controller which you can then use from device to device to automatically sign in and play around friend's houses.
- The Xperia Play is relaunched to coincide with this. Cloud syncing means you can be playing a game on the way home from work, quit and then carry on where you left off as soon as you turn on the TV.
- PSVita can act as a controller for PS4 games as well as playing them independently.
- A proper PS4 box is launched with the chipset and storage tied together like a regular console.

I don't get it, why would a redesign be on your wishlist? The Wii is tiny as it is and the best looking console out there. Plus, I really hope the first party games for the launch you mentioned arn't what you mentioned, considering how bland NSMBrothers looked last year. I hope that has had a Rayman Origins makeover, not necessarily to look like it but a huge graphical upgrade. More Super Mario World than NSMB

I want to see if Valve are bringing out that steam box. Not that I'll be buying it, but I'd be interested to see it.

Nintendo could easily continue to sell the Wii for another few years as an entry-level unit like Sony did with the PSTwo. I see no reason why a redesign couldn't jump-start sales again.

The real surprises will come from the third parties imo...Sega, Konami, Epic etc

I really don't have much excitement for the Wii U. Even the name lacks any inspiration and they should have gone with something different because it isn't really a Wii Mk 2 is it?

I just want some exciting game announcements. How about Shenmue HD and PGR5?

This has already happened.

Yeah but that was an incremental upgrade, this is a new experience.

I think Valve have already explicitly said there will be no HL2-3 or HL3 shown, which is why I did not put it down.

I'd say that Mode 7 and Super-FX were more than simply an incremental upgrade. Mode 7 especially.
