Took me a moment. Very good.
Rocsteady, South of France can be pretty good, more on the East bordering Italy. Some beautiful locations, and enough small towns dotted around that you'll be able to find accommodation if the situation demands. Spent about 7 weeks in that area last year. Am actually in Northwest France right now. It is also really cool, but I reckon I still prefer the Southeast.
'Course, France is more expensive than other countries, if you don't know how to shop smart (stock up on bread, it's cheap, delicious and fucken everywhere).
