True or false?

For me it's true (Gamecube  ), and for years I've argued that it's because of its stellar gaming lineup, host of timeless classics, focus on gameplay and playability above all else, and superb roster of local multiplayer games.

But as I get older and hear convincing arguments made by others about the console that just so happened to be the accompaniment to their teenage years, I'm starting to suspect it's a pattern.

The detail of this is false for me, but I think the underlying principle is true enough: my favourite gaming series are the ones that hold an element of nostalgia for me.

False, my favourite console was probably the 360, which is my mid 20's, my teenage consoles were the saturn, N64 & DC, which were all amazing, but don't hold as many amazing memories as the 360 combined.

Tricky question to quantify. I'd sincerely argue that whilst the Gamecube saw more action than the N64 (in part due to getting the former on launch day, whereas I didn't purchase the N64 until Christmas 1998, a good two years after it launched), it's the N64 which holds better memories despite me preferring the GC.

Kind of immaterial really considering that they were both in my teenage years.

My most fond memories are are from the following

Saturn
PlayStation
Dreamcast

If you discount online gaming that felt like an era of rapid innovation throughout gaming.

It was also a golden age for arcades where Sega and Namco were in an arms race and arcade technology was way ahead of consoles and PC.

False.

My fondest memories are playing on my Commodore 64, which was obsolete by the time I was a teenager.

My favourite console (so far!) was the 360 when I was long past being a teenager.

Thanks for making me feel old Dan.

Slightly off topic, I believe that people's favourite decade of music is from when you were a teenager.

For consoles though, this is not the case (for me at least). During my teenage years the only console I had access to was an Atari VCS. Whilst this was pretty damn good at the time (given it's main competition was a Binatone console that although had 6 or so games, all were based around tennis) you would need rose tinted spectacles developed using alien technology to think for one second it compared to what came after.

My favourite console is probably the SNES. Simpler games for a much simpler time.

So far my favourite ever console is the Xbox 360.

Apart from the RRoD issue it was pretty much perfect as it had some amazing exclusives and the controller was the best I've ever used with the added benefit of not falling apart like the PS4 controller does. I had a PS3 but only really used it for TLoU.

Well, it has to be the GameCube, if we're going by my most played console during my teen years, since it occupied almost all of them, from my 14th birthday to my 18th - book-ended at the beginning by the Dreamcast, and at the end by the Wii. I'm pretty sure that that was my favorite system, too.

Probably just True for me, it was a fight between the SNES and the N64, with the N64 just winning out. Four Player Games back in the day were tremendous, miss those times.

I was a teenager in the 90's and the music I like is from the 80's. Like early Metallica and gooseberry fool.

Nope, mine is still the 360. Had some amazing times with that little white box. As a teenager, I played mainly PC, with some N64 and Dreamcast thrown in for good measure. My megadrive was probably the one that got play most however, back in my pre-teen years

Interesting split so far. Looks like it's usually not the case.
