Ossuary in Dead Cells.

On the face of it the Ossuary stage looks very edgy and try hard, but it's legit nails when entering the place before you manage to beat the Concierge (and thus unlock some of the early weapon, gear and loot options), and so the visuals and atmosphere of the gameplay at that time are a perfect match.

All Ghilied up - Modern warfare

Seeing Hyrule town laid to waste in Ocarina of Time. Redeads! :dread:

Walking past what I thought was a dead body in Remake only to be chased and killed by a crimson head.

Last level of Journey where you’re resurrected and head into the light. The joy of movement and music are wondrous.

The scene with Joel and Ellie with the horses as they argue and then he decides to stay with her. Beautifully done.

Oh and add me to the Phendrana Drifts/ Facility love list as well.

The first crimson head I encountered came rushing down a set of stairs moments after I'd passed, as you said, what I thought was a dead body.

Scared the crap out of me.

The opening to Shenmue. For me it sets up the rest of the game perfectly.

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

Wind Waker is a marvellous game and you're quite right; heading out onto the open sea for the first time is brilliant.

Oh boy, gonna have to hold myself back to not go overboard with a bunch of moments I loved. Instead, I'll just mention Journey. It had several powerful moments but the sand surfing segment still hits me to this day with how well it was executed.

I really loved the AI partner, they felt very believable

I really must try Journey. I've heard and read so many good things about it.

The Antlion defence in Half-Life 2: Episode Two is such an awesome moment. The enemy waves slowly build up until allies eventually arrive and you think it's over, then the sensors for every tunnel simultaneously light up and this track kicks in:

As for multiplayer maps, Chinese will always be my favourite level in TimeSplitters. I liked Crash and Crossfire the most in Call of Duty 4 as well.

I've not played it but my understanding is it's a paired online stranger at the same place in the game as you. I.e. a real person.

That moment where you're not sure if people are playing along

EDIT: This might be the best pun I've ever written

I was referencing this (I thought you'd notice the link if you quoted me)

"That moment where you're not sure if people are playing along" can be read as either me not being sure if people were playing along with my joke, or it is an answer to the thread about people literally playing along with you in Journey.

I shall now retire from this thread
