I didn't mean you should start from the middle of season 3. Just don't expect awesomeness from the start. :P

If you start from season 1, you'll probably be wondering what all the fuss was about for a while. DS9 started to improve from somewhere in the third season, and becomes amazing from the fourth.

I'd still say start from season 1 though - a lot of the plot threads start in 1 and 2, as well setting the events on Bajor into a context.

Don't expect it to be amazing - you're just laying the groundwork for the later seasons of win.

I hate coming into a series a few seasons in, theyll alwyas make some reference to something that happened previously and Ill feel I missed something. Always like to start at the beginning of a series. Ill look into acquiring DS9 this summer and give it a damn good watching.

Good boy.

Season 1 and 2 (and to a lesser extent 3) are much more variable/iffy though (while there are some brilliant episodes). Don't expect awesome from the beginning.

Season 3 steps up. Season 4 begins the awesome - then 5,6,7 top it off. The end of Season 5 was amazing at the timeNever saw the evacuation/occupation of the station coming.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - TNG/Voyager were better "Trek" - DS9 was better TV.

I thought S1 was great except for one or two episodes (strawberry floating Lwaxana Troi! ), even the silly board game episode. The first half of S2 was a bit gooseberry fool though.

I would've expected you to plump for TOS

Tng would be top for me and I just realised how late I am answering this.

I started voyager recently. I think it's good too.

only recently getting into the star trek,
I've always been more of a SW fan but I am thoroughly enjoying watching TNG from series one and Patrick Stewart is a beast.

Voyager gets better and better as it goes on. Series 2 is generally quite bad, but 3/4/5 and 6 were cracking.

Voyager for me, but only because I love the premise, ship and Janeway. I can logically acknowledge, however, that DS9 is better and that Sacrifice of Angels has THE BEST space scenes ever witnessed... Even if it is a bit overly scripted and some of the ships in the background aren't doing anything.

I've been watching TNG a lot lately. Borrowed season 1 DVD from my girlfriend and on to season 2 on US netflix now, it's so good. :) The one I've seen the most of is Voyager which I love for the most part, but so far TNG is shaping up to be better.

Riker looked better in season 1 without the beard. :shifty:

Me and my best mate have started watching DS9 and Voyager. He's just gotten into Star Trek Online, and wanted to sit down and actually watch Star Trek to get an idea of some of the back story (particularly with the Borg and the Dominion, as well as 8472).

The Dominion were a one-dimensional inter-galactic empire that proved to be the soulless clone foe for the similarly one-dimensional DS9 crew. Simples!

Led to a strawberry floating good war, though. What I loved about DS9 is that it showed humans as fallible, where other Trek series showed humans as being basically perfect and righteous. In The Pale Moonlight demonstrated this best.

DS9 is the best, Voyager is the worst*. TOS is just classic TV, TNG is classic Star Trek and Enterprise... surprised me. A few off episodes here and there, but largely I really enjoyed it.

I can't pick between DS9 and TNG. I don't really like Voyager apart from a few episodes. Enterprise got better towards the end, despite the last episode.

And yes, Robert Picardo is one of the few great things about Voyager.

See, there's one thing that DS9 has that TNG just can't compete with.

(Though, Next Gen DOES have Andreas Katsulas)

Mine is Voyager.

EDIT: Seemingly this thread is from 2009 so I've probably said this before.

next gen.

its alright, they're all alright, but i like that for the most part next gen episodes are stand alones, only a few double episodes, so you can jump into it any time and enjoy a single episode here and there. Pickard is a hero too.

i really like Star Trek the original series too, but the third series lets it down, strawberry floating shite episodes they started throwing out.

I'd probably go with Next Gen but then again it is my most watched Star Trek series. Absolutely love the original crew in the films though
