Currently a rather poor (by today's standards)

But we've just got fibre installed in the area so hopefully by next week I'll be on something much better. And I can't wait. I've had my current connection for many, many years now and I remember how much of a revelation it was going from 56k internet, so being able to download a large file/demo/whatever in a few minutes will be AMAZE!!!! Can't wait.

I have checked out my broadband speed test at Scanmyspeed.com
My speed test results: Upload speed : 10.5 Mbps Download speed : 40.8 Mbps

Wow! Virgin just doubled my home broadband speed for free!

Upload speed is terrible though.

Need to sort out internet for the new house in a week. Need no more than a 12 month contract. Want as fast a connection as possible. Suggestions? Plusnet seem to only do 18 month contracts for their fibre connections.

Don't Virgin do 9 month student contracts? You can get it without a phone line I think too - no shitty line rental charge.

Sky do Fibre on 12 month contracts don't they?
I think you have to take a phone line/line rental with them as well though. The broadband itself is half price for 6 months though.

Actually, I don't think they have plans to upgrade the upload. Well, that's what the told me.

Actually, I don't think they have plans to upgrade the upload. Well, that's what the told me.

From what i understand is the 100mb package went from 5mb upload to 10mb then it goes to 120mb down and 12mb up. Mine got upgraded this week
