Just waiting for my free 50MB upgrade.

Getting mine next Saturday how comes yours is free.

Every now and then they'll send you a letter or give you a call to offer you some better deals. We went from their 10MB package to 20MB with a better phone service and it actually costs us a lot less than it did before. Just got another one of those offers as we've been with them for a long time now (since the 90's)

Also, they will periodically bump you up to a better speed as they upgrade the cables across Britain.

Yea I know what you mean went from 128k to 300k to 750k to 1mb to 2mb to 4mb then to 10mb and finally paid to go 20mb and have paid again to go 50mb , I don't think that virgin will do a free upgrade to 50mb as it normally requires fibre to the house which like me has to be reinstalled.

I get 19.5Mbits straight into the router, about 13 up here. For some reason powerline adapters are all running slower than they used to

Can anyone explain to me then (because no one at O2 can) why my internet speed is so crap? Every second page (sometimes every page) I try to go on hangs and I need to refresh it, I get kicked off Live and PSN all the time whenever I'm playing something (a major pain in the arse during Demon's Souls) yet, looking at the above, I shouldn't be expecting that sort of thing to happen. Should I?

I've phoned O2 quite a few times on this and they normally just suggest changing the frequency channel or resetting the box. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Anyone any ideas?

Ping is okay and that is what is important for me. Good job im on a fixed connection because BT are really really gooseberry fool. Back home I have a 50mb connection and I get faster download speeds connecting to the East Coast of the USA on that than I do connecting to London from here in Norwich :?

Virgin gave us the upgraded 50mb connection for free along with an top-end Netgear Wireless Router and Wireless USB receiver. Must have been worth £150 + but I guess it was free as we were part of a trial that Virgin were doing to see how well the connection works before releasing it to the rest of the public.

strawberry floating love Virgin Media

Not long till virgin release the 100 and 200 meg connections, with luck sometime next year.

It's probabily not best doing this during peak time! I bet if you try mid day tuesday the speeds will be a lot better! Also sometimes you get a better speed on the other servers!

Mine (Sky BB should be 16mb)

Could be a selection of things, speeds tend to vary dramatically throughout the day, if you are using wireless connection, it could be some kind of distortion in the signal, try plugging the xbox into the router and see if it keeps dropping?

Well impressed with that. We're on a fairly basic virgin package, as far as I'm aware.
