Not quite fibre levels, but moved over to ADSL 2 this weekend. :) Seems to be doubled across the board.

We may be further away. But we're more civilised.

And gex - ADSL 2 speeds will vary. It might go back down again. Depends on how clean your line fancies feeling.

It got faster since then too. 8-)

This is bizarre. The Openreach engineer (sound bloke btw) tested the new FTTC we just had installed today from PlusNet and he tested it to the modem at 40Meg down and 10Meg up. When using my laptop to the router (which has to be connected to the Openreach modem) I actually get 43Meg down via Usenet. Speedtest.net says my max speed varies between 20 and 30Meg. :?

To make matters worse, I use wired TP-Link 200Mbps Ethernet plugs to get the internet in my office upstairs. The max THAT gets on Usenet is 16Megs (or 13 Megs on Speedtest). If I switch to my N-range USB wireless adaptor, it drops to 5Megs! :fp:

Also, thanks to an open convo with the engineer, it turns out PlusNet provisioned me wrong and I should actually be on their 80Meg Down and 20Meg up speeds :x Which, clearly, my electrical wiring in this house can't handle. So to take advantage of the full speed they're changing me to, do I constantly sit beside the router with a laptop and USB stick plugged in (to move the files up to my main PC), or has anyone got any better ideas?

Mine seems to have increased since the last time I checked.

Was about 25MB download before I think.

Currently manually altering the Wireless channels and it's making a monumental difference. I'm currently up from 5Meg up to 30Meg down (and 9Meg upstream)!

Will try every channel and hopefully I can get it to max out so I'll then see the benefits of going to 80. :datass:

Getting a 'line upgrade' tomorrow but no promise of updated speeds. They just said it may get faster.

Is anyone living in an area where they can get Hyperoptic broadband? They offer an unlimited 1000mb package for £50 a month! You can register your interest in bringing it your area and the more people who do so, the sooner they roll out to that area, so just like how Google are running Google Fiber.

Hyperoptics are the same guys behind BE unlimited broadband which I had for many years and were awesome at the time but due to no FTTC option I decided to leave.

Used to get 100KB/sec when downloading and now I get 240KB/sec so I'm happy.

The GFX card fans would be millimeters from the PCI wireless card, causing it to get too hot, so the USB WiFi option it is (and it's giving me full speed, so I fail to see the problem). :simper:

Why do most of you have these awful upload speeds? :dread:

Paying 65 liras for this. That's 23 GBP.

That's an intake fan so shouldn't be a problem, in fact that's why it's like that.

Plusnet finally upped my speed to the correct level. Sadly, Speedtest.net doesn't seem to like it, so here's a usenet file download speed instead:

Full 80 down and 20 up. :datass:
