Galaxian sounds are the best sounds but the "dive" effect, in particular, is just so satisfying to me.

The Resident Evil 2 valve turning.
Sonic jumping.
Shiva stomping her heel during that one part of the Diamond Dust animation in FFXIV.
The Gravity spell in FFXIV.

Mmhmm - Rosalina

Electrical damage in SSBM (fox/falco reflector, captain falcon knee). I love the impact and then that fizz. In fact a lot of my favourite sound effects are from Smash games.

Ridley's scream in Metroid Fusion.

The key mask transformations in Majora's Mask.

Any of Alucard's sounds in the original Sotn. The new dub in the psp version is better (bar the removal of some awesome lines), but I preferred his noises on PS1.

That's also in my top 5, but to add another video, I've always felt Steam's Big Picture start up noise is the spiritual successor to the Dreamcast's:

Staying with Valve, you always knew you were onto a winner when this was at the start of the game:

The first 3:30 of this. I turned the noise on the 56k modem back on because it reminded me of this

A bit of a weird one to finish, but this just reminds me of the Atari 2600 so much, and it was one of my earliest gaming memories:

Most of the obvious ones have already been posted.

Haven't seen any mentions of 'EA Sports, it's in the game!' which is a surprise - brings back a lot of childhood memories for me!

The little tune in Pokemon when you heal at a Poke Center is another good one.

I've always liked the chocobo call from Final Fantasy, used to have it as a text tone.

It's not a big or important one, but there's something very satisfying about the screech when Mario turns abruptly while running in Super Mario World.

That goddamn King Zora movement

But of course, the one sound effect to rule them all (and why was this so hard to find):

This is what I was thinking of (which appears to be FF7 but I thought was more widely used);
