PostHope you weren't expecting a new F-Zero....

.....
"I certainly understand that people want a new F-Zero game," Miyamoto said. "I think where I struggle is that I don’t really have a good idea for what’s new that we could bring to F-Zero that would really turn it into a great game again. Certainly I can see how people looking at Mario Kart 8 could see, through the anti-gravity, a connection to F-Zero. But I don’t know, at this point, what direction we could go in with a new F-Zero."

So, they know we want a new F-Zero yet they don't want to make one.....go strawberry float yourselves Nintendo.

Far be it for Nintendo to make a game which doesn't tread new ground.

> nintendo says they don't have a good new idea for f-zero, despite the fact most fans would just be happy with a HD version with no shitty new gimmicks
> keeps pumping out mario kart, with the latest versions' pointless new thing being a track underneath

They really are so strawberry floating stupid sometimes.

Could they not add weapons?

That alone would make F-Zero pretty awesome no?

It's be like Wipeout but way faster. Nothing wrong witht hat.

They could just add online multiplayer.

I think you just need to fully accept that it's not going to happen, Suzz. This isn't healthy. :(

How stupid do you have to be to not think "hey, some new tracks would freshen it up. Besides, there's been no F-Zero in 10 years."

No, no, keep shitting out Mario Kart games and keep reskinning Zelda.

Make Captain Falcon ride a god damn train or turn him into a wolf if that's your idea of doing something new with a franchise.

I knew it'd be bad news as soon as I saw the thread title but I couldn't help but click  I don't want to tell Miyamoto how to do his job but for a start having proper online races would be a start, maybe increase the number of vehicles in races, beef up the story mode, etc. It's games like F-Zero, Metroid and a new Star Fox - on top of the likes of X, Smash Bros and Mario Kart that would tempt me to buy a WiiU.

I guess on one hand it's nice to hear they're treating the franchise with care and respect but at the same time if Nintendo can't come up with ideas, why not do another collaboration with a third party dev and see what ideas they have and Nintendo can Green light their ideas or suggest improvements or whatever. As they said, they know fans want to see another F-Zero.

I wasn't expecting a new F-Zero, but I was hoping for one.

Never say never I guess. They'll probably do an F-Zero GX HD once their done with Wind Waker. That'd be awesome.

Weapons in F-Zero?

No thanks. :dread:

All Nintendo need to do is release F-Zero GX with added online multiplayer and a fresh lick of paint.

Just say the franchise doesn't sell. Don't sugar coat the lack of a new game as being down to some kind of awful artistic block when Nintendo are one of the most risk adverse publishers around.

I'd be more than happy if they just re-released the N64 version, heck I'll take the same graphics too, but with added 30-player online multiplayer. Bonus points if they added new tracks and the 64DD track editor (or an improved version). That's not much to ask, is it?

But by god no weapons please. Side attacks yes, weapons no.

Why don't they outsource it? Sega didn't disgrace themselves the last time. In fact it was arguably the best F-Zero game.

If a tad too hard

An enhanced version released for download. 64 and GX/AX tracks brought up to date in a nice new engine with 30-player online.

*sighs*

Shame the games never sold amazingly. :(

I loved GX (and also found it too hard for me) but in the end I like X just that little bit more. The SNES one is also good but not better than the two modern ones.
