You don’t need a contract, no. If you buy the 3G Vita from anywhere except from Vodafone, you’ll just get the unit, with no subscription or SIM or anything. If you buy from Vodafone (who are the preferred provider for Vita 3G in the UK), you’ll also get a free 4GB memory card and a no-commitment pay-as-you-go SIM card – regular, not a Micro-SIM. If you then top up that SIM with £5 or more, you’ll be sent a code to get WipEout 2048 for free.

 Sony :fp:

Thats also a massive dropped bollock by Vodafone if its true.

thats a relief - main reason I went for 3G was for free wipeout download as figured that would offset the extra cost and it'd be worth having for the GPS etc..

My current plan is to top up voafone sim for a fiver, get my free wipeout download then use the sim out of my "3" mifi dongle thing which I don't use that often. As vodafone is pay as you go I guess there's nothing tying me in to use it after the initial top up/data has run out.

My credit card hasn't turned up yet so I guess I might have to wait a wee while before I get my Vita. I'm actually more annoyed about potentially losing my £10 deposit :(

Apparently I've got a package from Canada at home so looks like my Vita stand and 32gb card have arrived (unless they've sent them seperately - will be gutted if it's just the stand  )

Hopefully won't need to buy a 4gb card afterall now - videogamesplus

So if I buy a wifi only.

Buy a 3G simcard. Get free a 4GB memory card.

Top up £5. Get wipeout free.

No, you have to buy the 3g Vita from Vodafone to get the 4gb card free. Supposedly all 3g units come with a Vodafone sim which gives you Wipeout when you top up a £5 (though I don't think this has been definitely confirmed). I don't think Vodafone have listed any sim only deals.

Mine's just been dispatched by Amazon! Delivery estimate has been brought forward to tomorrow, too. Could Amazon pull through...?

My Amazon order also has an esitamte delivery of 22nd.

I took up the deal with the free 8gb card but didn't bother with any of the games for £15, if I change my order now will it affect the dispatch? Also does having a prime account make any difference with pre orders?

What delivery option did you use out of interest?

My order is in the dispatch process so I'm confident it will be posted today and first class has never taken more than a day for me so tomorrow looks like a good bet. The games I have on order will be posted tomorrow I think so I will at least have them by the weekend as a few are by super saver.

Changing now could push it back a day, I just changed another order due this week to different postal option, then changed it back again and now due a day later.
