Just discovered an impressive looking PSP emulator called ppsspp, has onscreen controls too so should be great for me.

Downloading a couple of games to try it with atm.

Yeah, sorry for not replying to you (and Pyxl-8), was very helpful thanks.

Shame neither of the games I tried work properly (Outrun 2006 has graphical errors and runs slowly, Disgaea 2 has sound issues and all fmv looks horribly choppy).

There must be other settings for different games. MGS 3 has really bad cutscenes that run horribly slow but the gameplay seems OK. God Of War 2 runs like dog gooseberry fool and so slow.

Might just try the PSP versions of both games seeing as how well ppsspp works, it really is a well made emulator.

Just discovered there's a section in Persona 3 that causes the emulator I'm playing it on to crash, looks like I'll have to try the PS2 version instead, if I can actually get the bloody thing downloaded that is (currently has 6-7 hours left).

Wish I could find it on usenet then at least I could pause/resume the download if my internet gets cut off (EE frequently do this mid afternoon for some reason - can't wait for the 12 month contract to end).

It's been years since I emulated anything. Project64 still the best N64 emulator?

It does look like it is. Try Mupen if you run into trouble with something on Project 64.

I've been really getting into emulation this week.
Mostly due to nostalgic memories of gaming from when I was a kid, and not being able to afford a new console or games.

I've got quite a few up and running faultlessly: N64, DS, SNES, PS1, PS2 and MAME.
I can't for the life of me get Dolphin to work though. I think it's because I'm running Vista (I know...).

I can still do the 100m dash in under 6.5 seconds in international track and field - ooohh yeah!

What are your PC's specs? You need something relatively powerful, especially in the CPU department, so that may be the problem. I've got an i5-3570K at 3.4GHz and I've managed to run games like F-Zero and Xenoblade with few problems.

To be honest, that's probably it.

I rather arrogantly thought it would run given that it emulates an old console - but Gamecube and Wii are still pretty powerful.

My PCs a bit of an aging old lump:

I've got an old Core 2 Quad Q8200 - running a 32-bit version of vista.
3.5gb Ram.
And my GPU is a Geforce GTS250.

:(

.....I'll go back to my Snes

It's more of a case of requiring powerful hardware to emulate them. It's definitely worth considering upgrading your PC because emulation, particularly via Dolphin, is an amazing benefit of PC gaming. Twilight Princess and Xenoblade look absolutely incredible when I play them!

This Dolphin talk, and hearing the TimeSlitters 2 music in my playlist, led to me loading up TimeSplitters 2 on Dolphin. It runs at a constant 60FPS and plays just like I remember it, even with the 360 controller.

How would dolphin fare on an 2012 i3?

That sounds similar to my desktop setup and I can do Wii games. Only difference is I run 64bit Windows 7, I have a Radion HD 4870, 4Gb of RAM and I overclock my CPU by about 500Mhz.

It shouldn't be too bad if you dial things back. I'm using a 2012 i5 with 2x the native internal resolution.

Just downloaded Project 64. Going to try and play some of my N64 games via ROM instead as the controller paks I find simply won't save. Not sure if I'm allowed to ask but anyone know where I might find ROM files?
