I don't understand all the blue shell hate. I've been first plenty of times but I've never felt that the blue shell is overpowered. Sometimes the leader of the pack will get hit with multiple blue shells but it's all in the game.

In 7 online there's been quite a few times where I've been in first, get hit by ol bluey on the final corner and fall to like 6th.

It's always bugged me how it's the person right at the back who gets them, but it only helps the guys in second and third. My suggestion for improvement would be it attaches itself to the track in front of the guy in first, and blows up like a bigger bob omb. So good driving could avoid it, but it'd ruin your racing line. Also you'd only get it in 4th or 5th place. Last place has the lightning and the star to catch up with already.

My tactic on 7 these days, now I'm playing with better people thanks to my higher Vr, is to save my Blue shell when I get one. The guys at the front see in have one, and brake, trying to make someone else go into first place. I never fire it and just drive right past them all into first, chuckling like a mad man the whole time.

My other suggestion for blue shell balancing is it behaves like a red shell, but it works it's way up the people in front of you. So it'll hit the guy in 7th, then home on on 6th,5th etc. If you have an item trailing behind you, it'll hit that instead of you, then move onto the guy in front of you.

If it worked like the lightning in Blur then I'd be happy. Plonks a temporary chicane in front of first that can be dodged with good driving.

yeah that was the perfect type of blue shell for Blur. It could be avoided but it was tough at times and you had to pull off some good driving to get out of it's way.

I'd be happy with blue shells if you could avoid them using a well-timed boost a split-second before it hits you (or does that make it no different from a red shell?)

You can do that anyway, it's just having a mushroom on standby is rarely an option.

I mean a boost you can perform without an item. A corner boost.

I like having mushrooms the only way to dodge blue shells. The reason being that it means the person in front can't have an item to shield theirselves from a red shell fired from second. It's a trade off and has risk reward to holding a mushroom.

But you don't get a mushroom in first place, making it redundant, really.

But you might get a mushroom in fourth place and quickly jump up to first with skills alone. Then the blue shell is unleashed and you can use the mushaloop to evade it.

I thought the execution in MK64 was pretty good, TBH, racing along the ground. It gave the rest of the pack the chance to get out the way, but equally there was a chance they'd get hit.

And then, the destruction wasn't that bad when it did hit the leader. It was only double dash that introduced the flying blue shell and the associated explosions, IIRC.

I reckon it will be £249.99. Does that represent good value?
