Might stick with portables and get a kick arse PC. But then I would miss out on Naughty Dog games
That is exactly what I plan on doing. I just feel like I'm done with a lot of this nonsense - the relative costs associated with big-budget console releases are only going to rise, the restrictions of ownership are only going to get tighter (online passes, day one DLC, subscription services, and everything else that's on the way), and the fact that we're already talking about releases in terms of franchise iterations just leaves me cold.
The games I've really fallen head over heels for on the home consoles of this generation have been the ones I haven't had a clue about until they've actually hit - Demon's Souls, Valkyria Chronicles, Bayonetta. I just don't see the incentive for these type of games to be produced, at least for the first few years of the next console cycle. Not when Space Manshooter of Warduty 12 is where the money's at.
Wii U interests me on price and price alone. If they undercut all this bloated, big-budget buffoonery with a relatively cheap bit of kit that performs at a level comparable to the existing lot, then I'll be a happier man for it.
Backwards compatibility will probably be a deciding factor as well. If I'm expected to lose access to a significant portion of the digital titles I've purchased this time around, then I'm done. Handhelds and PC 4 lyfe.
Say what you want but if this Halo TV series is a BIG BUDGET Game of Thrones style series with Spielberg directly producing this could be a Band of Brothers in space.
