My last foray into Poser was years ago but I bought loads of models. Poser5 I think it was. I used Bryce for landscapes. Not sure if that is still produced.

Your work looks great Cal!

Just become a proud new owner of DAZStudio4 Advanced. This is 'Kiko' - a character I created. She's lit with DS4's wonderful environmental lighting system (I followed a tutorial to get this result).

She could turn me straight. She might be virtual, but I really think she's what I'd call eye-candy.

'She', Cal?

'She' looks like a Thai ladyboy to me.

More of 'Kiko' - I really like this character. I think I'll be working with her for a while. She ain't no Ladyboy - she's a cold hearted, beautiful assassin. ;)

Here's a piece I created in DazStudio Pro 4. This uses a set of sci-fi armour called 'V.A.P Grim', created by Sanctum Art (no longer available) on the base DAZ Michael 3 character. The character pose is one I created. For the background I created simple flat planes within DazStudio4 and textured them using a few of Wulfen's beautiful high-resolution Doom3 textures (they also happen to be perfect for general-purpose 3D applications). Because DazStudo4 also supports normal mapping, you get the great detail out of what are essentially 2D flat textures. I then lit it all within DazStudio4. There is no post work on the render apart from some slight levelling in Photoshop.

Thanks - I'm now developing this project to explore how to combine Cinema4D Studio Edition with Poser Pro. Poser Pro ships with a plugin for C4d, allowing the import of poser files directly into C4d's environment. This opens up new possibilities for building interesting set designs around an imported Poser figure as Poser itself has very limited 3D tools. This is how the Poser figure looks imported into C4d's environment:

Image

The Poser file (highlighted) is imported but remains active - to repose the figure one has to go back into Poser and make and save the alterations, which are then updated into the C4d scene. So C4d is essentially 'referencing' the Poser file all the time, keeping track of live changes. This is a great way to work with Poser native files.

Here's a quick render of the scene from within Cinema 4D:

Yes that's all very well and good Cal, but I demand you do some more of 'Kiko'.

Aw, okay then - here she is, still alive and kicking - and now in her black leathers and sporting an all-new hairdo.

These was rendered as a .tif file (with an alpha channel) from within Poser Pro 2012 using imaged-based lighting (IBL), an HDRI lighting system which provides ambient occlusion for the final image. Kiko seems to like it! Some post-work in Photoshop to add background elements and adjust levels.
