All of these are easy for me once I learn the pattern  Even on Expert I never had any trouble once I learn what to do and stuff like that.

Sorry for the bump. I love Lylat wars and will be picking it up when the 3DS version is released. But it really does need to be played on the N64. No game since has got the rumble so perfect that it really adds to the game.

I really liked how the game changed depending on who was alive. For example if you kill falco so he isn't in the second level, when you meet the boss he'll let you take down some of his shield and admit defeat. Then surprise you with an attack shouting 'If this does not work!'. It's such a perfect game, fun, arcadey and a blast to play.

Will the 3DS version have a level select?

I thought that happened regardless of Falco being there or not.

Interestingly, I gave the game a whirl about a week ago, wiping out my crew in each level--and it looks like casuallyhardcore's bang on the money! I'd long forgotten about the alternative dialogues you could get when certain members of your squadron were felled, such as Pigma's alternative spiel when you touch down on Fortuna without Peppy.

Upon reflection, I do recall that these alternative speeches were one of the most compelling aspects of the game during your first few efforts to complete it. Once you become a more seasoned pilot, you become more accustomed to the advanced routes, and fewer of your allies are defeated. The unfortunate consequence, I suppose, is that it's possible to miss several of the more obscure pieces of speech generated by more specific variables--such as a particular downed pilot, or taking lesser routes. Even some events, like the appearance of certain Star Wolf members on Bolse, rely on what you did earlier in the game--a really engrossing touch, especially if you let one of them slip on Fortuna.

Actually, this just occurred to me, that probably explains why they didn't include the level selector

Seems a good time for a bump.

Playing through this on Wii. It's so good, I always had an affinity with this game because as a kid when we got the N64 I always assumed this was the one of the 4 games that was bought for me.

Still excellent 13 years on

Bump outta nowhere motherfuckas.

I just started the remake on 3DS and am quite enjoying it. Miss the old voices, though. :(

I dunno if anyone watches the brilliant awesomegamesdonequick event that happens twice a year (early January and late Summer I think), but I'm a strawberry floating addict. They just uploaded this run of Lylatwars from last month and it's strawberry floating epic. This guy is a god at the game!

I've been trying some of his techniques during my playthrough of the remake with partial success. :slol:

(check out the incredible Diddy Kong Racing and Super Metroid videos, too, on that channel!)

I'd love a new Starfox on the 3DS but I don't think it'll happen. I think the flying scenes in Kid Icarus showed how it could be done quite well

No stylus control. I'd like my hands not to ache while playing it, thanks. The control pad works fine with the remake. They gyro controls seem to work well, too, but I only tried them for a minute.

Apart from the rerecorded voices and redone music, this remake is great.

The VC version of Lylat Wars is broken though. The controls are laggy on Aquas, I have no idea why.

Oh man, they changed Falco's awesome line where he says "Hey Einstein! I'm on your side". In the 3DS version he says "Hey genius!" :dread: Falco's new voice actor is terrible in general. Doesn't have any of the attitude the N64 one had. A pity they couldn't get more of the old cast back besides Fox and Slippy (who sound almost indistinguishable from old). The guy doing the Peppy impression does a pretty good job in fairness and General Pepper too. All of the bad guys sound awful, though, every single one of them. It's a huge shame.

Enjoying the game a lot apart from the sometimes lackluster VOs.
