That's really cool, but why haven't Sega ever tried putting those zones back into the game for Sonic 2's re-releases (XBLA, VC, Mega Collection, etc.)? It can't take up that much time and effort, surely.

This isn't from Gametrailers, but entry number 1 from this article kind of belongs here.

http://www.cracked.com/article_19148_6- ... se_p2.html

I had no idea.

Actually, I'm pretty sure level -2 is a legit level, from world 2. Worlds -1 and -3 are freaky, though. The end, WTF.

Always wondered about that bigfoot thing. I'm sure I remember kids at school bragging they had encountered it. Liars.

I had no idea about the plaque in Dodongo's Cavern in OoT

However there is a way to unlock Luigi in a half-legitimate way, using a modding tool that allows to dig deep in the game's code.

The Luigi unlocked here should be the one that they originally included for the multiplayer (as mentioned at the end of that GT video). But there are no magic codes or collecting all coins or gooseberry fool like that, it's just about going through the game's original code and finding the right stuff. Anti-climax.

Um it probably won't be in the 3DS version, as will any of the original sprites and art from the N64 version. It's being re-designed completely.

You should rather be on the lookout for references to Mario Galaxy or something.
