You may be surprised to know that the age demographic for WWE's flagship show in the USA is now 50+. It's also very popular with hispanics, black and historically low income families, with a large cross-over appeal with basketball (NBA) and european soccer. Kids in America are now all playing soccer (partially also due to parents being worried about concussions), which could be a problem for the NFL as interest from the younger generation declines.
It's telling that sports long regarded as resolutely American (baseball, NASCAR) are not resonating whatsoever with the younger generation. NASCAR is slowly dying on its arse with low attendance and low TV ratings, but it's also another sport that you've got to dedicate hours and hours to watch.

It must be difficult being a NASCAR driver. All the drivers are pulling right but the cars only turn left.
