That's what I'm worried about. If we get some sort of deal and a proper transition period then I think it'll be not much different what we have seen over the past 10 years - a gradual decline in public services, our real wages and so on. If we crash out with nothing? It'll be chaos surely. Think how something like Dover will operate without a proper agreement to make customs run smoothly.

Great article on the identity crisis facing the UK since the Brexit vote

Britain is now but a modest-size ship on the global ocean. Having voted to leave the European Union, it is unmoored, heading to nowhere, while on deck, fire has broken out and the captain — poor Theresa May — is lashed to the mast, without the authority to decide whether to turn to port or to starboard, let alone do what one imagines she knows would be best, which is to turn around and head back to shore

And here's what The Sun has to say to that:

The Sun wrote:UK on a high

WHAT a depressing day for Remoaners willing Britain to fail to prove them “right”.

First our vast services sector, the bulk of the economy, records its biggest boost in six months after a surge in orders.

Then the FTSE 100 — such a useful measure for Remainers when it falls, though funnily enough not when it rises — hits an all-time closing high.

Better luck next week, all.

Maybe there will be some job losses you can celebrate.

Maybe we should deliberately trash sterling. Most the FTSE 100 measure in USD so if there was a run on the pound it would go through the roof. Hurray!

Actually, I'm kind of confused why it just dropped at the rate rise. Shouldn't an interest rate rise push the value of holdings in sterling up?

Has anybody celebrated falls in the FTSE? I don’t remember any Remainers saying that.

Of course the FTSE is at a high. We are still in the EU and our currency is massively devalued.

Let’s see how well the FTSE is doing when the no deal tariffs start biting.

Would the FTSE even take that big of a hit then given that it's mostly international companies?

True, I guess a lot of them might leave but I’d imagine we’ll turn into a tax haven so maybe not.

Either way, the FTSE isn’t going to help Sun readers pay their food bills.

I asked the same question earlier in the week. The explanation I got was that the BoE also dropped a lot of bad news at the same time the rate increase was announced.

It's amazing to think how the simple fact that we've not actually left the EU yet is lost on those eager to prove a point one way or the other...

That's why the FTSE250 is often a better indicator of the UK economy since the FTSE100 includes so many large globally diversified companies.

Apparently John Redwood is advising investors to stay clear of the UK and invest in mainland Europe.

I don't know, but I don't get why the guy is backing Brexit.

The guy seems to be willfully destroying this countries economy. It's like he knows brexit is a bad idea and is still carrying it out.
