I use Virgin (£10pm for 3000 mins, unltd txt and unltd data), they run on the EE network so I get decent coverage where I live. There are actually only four networks in the UK, EE, O2, Vodafone and Three. All the other companies use one of those four. Definitely worth asking people locally what kind of signal they get.

Do you need to have Virgin ISP to get that for £10? It seems suspiciously good.

Yes?

I've heard reports that Virgin data is slower than data directly through EE even though they're using the same network. That was a year or two ago though so it may be different now.

It's an old retention deal, you can't get it any more. The catch is that I'm only getting 3G, they won't offer me a 4G deal with unlimited data. Still, it suits me pretty well.

3G. :dread:

I have the £19 a month option from Three:

Unlimited 4G data. :datass:

I've noticed Three's signal isn't quite as strong in buildings like shopping centres but I have 4G everywhere in London and it's saved me an absolute fortune having free data-roaming when I've been visiting the USA, Ireland, Canary Islands and Italy. Having functional Google Maps when in a foreign country with a rental car rather than paying for a rip off SatNav rental. :datass:

Well yeah, but I'm paying almost half of what you're paying. Like I said, it suits me perfectly - I don't do intensive browsing when I'm out, I mainly just use my data for streaming Spotify, and it's perfectly fast enough for that.

Does anybody here use an alternative app for Facebook? The official app (and the official messenger app) have annoyed me for a while. Messenger Lite is perfect for me but the main FB app is still horrendous.

I just use the Facebook mobile site along with Messenger Lite. No notification bullshit, no battery draining, it runs quite quick. I've not used the proper app for years but man it was strawberry floating gooseberry fool. A lot of people go on about Tinfoil for Facebook, though I think it's more of a privacy thing and I've never used it.

I thought your phone doesn't have band 20 so you won't get 4g with all providers anyway.

Some networks have two 4G bands so it is still possible to pick it up.

I believe (though could be wrong, I haven't done masses of research) that EE use more than just band 20, so I should get some 4G coverage if I upgraded my contract. I think it's just O2 that it won't work with.

My OPO didn't have band 20 and I was on Tesco (piggy backs off O2) but I still got the 4G logo. Wasn't as fast as my son's connection, but was faster than 3g.

I use Tinfoil, it does the job.

Just got Vodafone to match Virgin's 20gb for £15 sim only offer. I was amazed by this as I've always ended up just switching providers each time as they never seem to watch to match deals for me.

Looking for a new phone soon. Are phones similar to tvs in the sense that when new models come out the manufacturers tend to recall old models so you don't get them at reduced prices?

What apps do you guys use to handle emails? Outlook just doesn't work for me.

I just use the Gmail app, but I've not tried anything else so I could be way behind on this one!

Inbox is great but I couldn't find a way to add a non-Google email address to it.
