Changed from BT who were giving me 18MB. I pay an extra £6 a month but it's worth it.

BT, like most ISPs in the UK, rely on the ageing phone network to deliver data, Virgin have their own cable infrastructure, completely separate to any other.

Of course, you could also improve speeds by moving from Broadband to Fibre.

What's the 'best' broadband deal around at the moment? Any horror stories from providers? I was with Virign in the old place but it isn't available in the new one. Looks like all the 76MBps stuff isn't. Any thoughts on BT vs. Sky vs. PlusNet? Anyone else I should be looking at?

I really hate the idea of usage caps and am probably trying to avoid traffic management where I can. If I can use 1channel on XBMC all the better.

Sky is a 12 month contract and appears to be clear on the no traffic management. I do think they've outlawed 1channel but that was more a bonus then a necessity. Looking at the price they are a couple of quid more, but the house has a Sky dish already and I think they'd try and throw some tv offers my way, which wouldn't be a terrible thing.

Any other thoughts?

Using BT Infinity wireless. Pre-Infinity I only used to be able to get broadband at around 1.3Mb download, so I'm happy with this.

Not the best, to be honest. I've noticed that the lowest Virgin do nowadays is 50mb but we're still only getting 20. So that sucks.
