PostGRcade 3rd Annual USTV Awards Results
by Memento Mori » Mon Sep 19, 2011 10:27 pm

First of all, I'd like to say thank you to the twenty two people who nominated and the twenty people who voted. Together we've generated a list of winners which are arguably more worthy than those the Emmys claim are the best of TV. Congratulations GRcade we're better than the Emmys! In fact there was literally only one category where we came up with the same winner as the Emmys did but after a late vote that's changed.

Now to the awards!

As a means to facilitate discussion (and because I'm still writing the winning posts), I'm not going to announce all the awards at once but I will include how many votes each winner got with each reveal. In the event of the tie, I will then declare winner whomever got the most nominations. If there is still a tie, I'll either choose my favourite of the two as winner or just make all of them joint winners.

EDIT:

The full list of winners:

Our first award is also a major one, it's

Best Drama

And the winner is:

There's a shocker.

Breaking Bad: 34
Game of Thrones: 20
Mad Men: 16
Justified: 10
Fringe: 10
House: 8

Most of the awards were closer than this I promise.

So far no change from last year. Here is how the votes broke down:

Curb Your Enthusiasm: 23
Community: 16
Futurama: 15
An Idiot Abroad: 13
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: 10
Modern Family: 10
The Ricky Gervais Show: 8
The Big Bang Theory: 6
Parks and Recreation: 6

Interestingly, last year Curb won with 24 and Sunny was just second with 23.

I voted for Community because the sheer invention and quality over 24 episodes is incredible. Curb was the best it's ever been though and probably had a higher laugh per minute ratio

Louie: 12
Chuck: 12
Bored to Death: 9
Glee: 8
Entourage: 7
Jersey Shore: 5
Californication: 4

I'm aware what a terrible promo picture I used there. I've made a huge mistake.

Best Actor in a Drama

Bryan Cranston

Again this was a no-brainer.

Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad): 28
Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones): 17
Hugh Laurie (House): 14
Timothy Olyphant (Justified): 12
Jon Hamm (Mad Men): 11
Sean Bean (Game of Thrones): 9

Last year's winner Michael C Hall didn't even make the finals.
