PS1 the later JRPGs have stood up well, but Mario 64 has to be the game from that generation that has stood the test of time the best.

indeed, i'd add sega rally too, its just prefect arcade magic, from the momment you turn it on till the point it sings "game over yeahhh" its just bliss.

Mario 64 definitely. Wave Race is still playable too

If you get a joystick adapter playing PS1 games through Epsxe is great with a proper pad.

Could call, the original Ridge Racer holds up rather nicely I found out the other day when I put it in the PS3.

i've never played the original rider racer

playstation wise, i did enjoy, infact still enjoy wipe out, that sound track, and the new one has a great sound track still.

the old PS1 F1 games were great too, played alot of those.

never did racing games on the N64 other than mario kart, pod racer or the strawberry floating awful road rash 64.

another racing game, i'd love to see redone with a new physics engine and sexy HD graphics that i played alot on both the ps1 and saturn, Demolishion derby. We played the gooseberry fool outta demo, great craic doing the battles in it.

I had all 3. But the N64 wins it for me, it was an unbelievable system.

I was the first out of my bunch of friends to own a N64. Everyone's jaws dropped when they played Mario 64 & PilotWings. Even my hardcore PC gaming mates rushed out to buy an N64 after I demonstrated GoldenEye to them. The N64 didn't have the quantity the PlayStation had, but it damn well had the quality. What a machine!

Just die!

Got a Saturn for Crimbo 96 and a PS for Crimbo 98. Not enough good games on N64 to warrant a purchase, borrowed my mate's with Mario 64 and Goldeneye though.

You couldn't justify a N64 because not enough good games, yet you bought a Saturn that had NO good games :fp:

Name 1 fighting game on N64 that was as good as Virtua Fighter 2

Name 1 driving game on N64 that was as good as Sega Rally.

Easy. Smash Bros and Mario Kart 64.

Really?

Mario Kart instead of Sega Rally

Smash bros instead of VF2 or fighters megamix or SF3 alpha or Marvel vs capcom

N64 sucked ass apart from zelda and mario

I remember picking up my Saturn. I paid £349 for the console, an extra pad, Sega Rally, Virtua Fighter & something else. It was a lot of money at the time but I was pleased with it. I spent ages playing games like Sega Worldwide Soccer and I played this odd game called Tomb Raider. No one had heard of it but the reviews were pretty positive. Then 3 months later it hit the PlayStation and became a global phenomenon. Seeing Tomb Raider on the PlayStation made everyone realise how underpowered and strawberry floating gooseberry fool the Saturn was in comparison. The Saturn was crushed by Sony and Sega have never really recovered from it.

Picked mine up from Toys R Us for Christmas 1996 with Virtua Fighter 2, Sega Rally, Daytona and Christmas NiGHTS for £249...

BARGAIN!

Saying that, Id've paid to same for a PlayStation with Resident Evil, Tekken 2 and F1 at the time, they just didn't have any decent bundles for the money.

I was 15, I didnt buy it, :fp: And I researched the hell out of it before I bought it. NiGHTS sold it too me, but the Panzer games were some of the best ones Ive ever played. I had a N64 and Zelda was/is probably the best game Ive ever played but there wasnt much else for me on that console

Didnt have Perfect Dark, loved Goldeneye though, you have to remember that being a teenager I didnt have regular access to £50/60 for the games, the saturn was much more accessible for me. As for the playstation, I couldnt get on with the controller then and it put me off the console regardless of the games available.

CVG being biased towards the Saturn (as opposed to EDGE's PlayStation bias) in 1996 sold it to be. Was really a tie between Saturn and N64, but apart from Mario 64 nothing else appealed to me and I didn't want to wait another 5 months.
