such a gorgeous game. I could spend hours in and around Flotsam alone - a wonderfully realised slice of beautiful but grotty fantasy real estate.
Witcher 2 is just Polygons though. One of my favourite visual effects in a recent game is the glaring Mechonis in Xenoblade. The game takes place across two gigantic titans frozen mid fight, your heroes born from one and your enemies the other. Looking up and seeing the source of all your trouble, glaring at you with those dead, frozen red eyes always fills you with an unshakeable fear of what comes from there, and the possibility that it's not dead, just waiting.
