And you're all missing the fact that it was an eight year old girl talking about Tetris, not the boy.

Pics of Abbi Minot are required. So we can decide her fate appropriately, naturally.

I remember once on TV they had some kid do a review of all 3 consoles. They asked him about the Gamecube and he said "well the graphics are terrible compared to the PS2, even worse than the Xbox. I think it's because the Gamecube is so small that it can't handle it".

Is it wrong to hunt down 11 year olds for sport? This kid has no idea what he's talking about. For one, the Gameboy is still the best handheld ever made and that boring tune has got to be the most addictive tune i've ever heard.

Who's bringing the pitchforks, i'll bring the torches.

Actually, I think he should just be forced to listen to Martin Leung's interpretation getting faster and faster till his head explodes.

Raze wrote:I can't tell if you're all deliberately misunderstanding or not, but the kid quite obviously wasn't saying there was no electricity around 20 years ago. And come on, would you really expect a kid who was born and raised in the PS1/N64 era, and was used to far more advanced games as 'the norm', to really love a Space Invaders arcade cabinet? It's not like he even said it was bad, just dated.

I grew up with the Speccy, and had long since graduted to the SNES and the Amiga when I found a working Space Invaders cab in a local arcade. Used to shovel the 10p's into that for a regular blast and battle my way to the top of the high-score table.
KKLEIN wrote:But Black & white Tetris, on an extremely bulky device at that, is ****. I don't want to play Pong or Space Invaders, so why would an 11 year old that's been playing the likes of Grand Theft Auto on the PS3 be interested?

BECAUSE TETRIS IS BETTER THAN GTA, DAMMIT!

Well, OK. They're not really directly comparable. But if Tetris had been a free-roaming open world sandbox game, you'd better believe it would have been better than a puzzle-game version of GTA.

She can't appreciate the retro value of something like a chunky Gameboy with the original Tetris playing on it in green and black. I feel sorry for today's kids really, I remember first playing on a Gameboy, it was special...but yeah boring, and not all that engaging, though it was some racing game I was playing. There's so many games out now, and too many updates and sequels and old games sold as new and games aspiring to be too like films, that videogames don't have an identity that's as pure as it was then. And she's preferring the gloss of the 46th version of Tetris over the magical feeling of playing something genuinely new and unprecedented, something of its time..stuck in time. And that is so much more.. important than the nice addition of high scores being saved and being able to see the next three blocks. She'll reach the age of 20 and suddenly realise how depressing life is when nothing excites as much as it did as a kid, when things were magical. *sad*

He's having a heart attack! Call an ambulance!

How can I? He's dead!
