films. There were three of them, somehow :dread:

I had no idea Gemini Man was 120fps, too :slol: Did anywhere actually show it in 120?

Only 14 screens in the whole of the US. And even they couldn't do 120fps, 3D and 4K.

If you were pumped to see Ang Lee‘s Gemini Man in the 120 frames-per-second high frame rate 4K 3D format that director Ang Lee intended, you might want to sit down for some bad news. Not a single movie theater in America will be screening Lee’s film in that desired format. On top of that, only 14 theaters in the country will be able to screen something close to what Lee wanted – 3D with 120fps high frame rate, but no 4K.

I think it makes a huge difference. Racing games at 120 fps are exhilarating. Thing is, it's highly likely that 120fps will come with many caveats this gen. wouldn't be surprised if previous gen games get a speed boost on Series X up to 120. The next gen games will go for 30 / 60 fps with a performance yet compromised mode for 120 fps. If that's the case, I usually opt for the fidelity option. I'll just wait and see how many games do use it all though.

I think to really notice the difference you need a lot of high relative motion across the screen. That tends to happen in racing games, but frame rates are definitely more noticeable in faster racing games than slower. In third or first person action games I think it's quick rotations of the camera that benefit the most - although things like deliberate motion blur seem to obscure the difference somewhat. I'm not very attuned to differing frame rates (probably from a childhood brought up on 12FPS cartoons, pixel animation and N64 games), so when I've gone looking for the difference it's only really in racing games or during quick rotations I can reliably identify e.g. 30FPS vs 60FPS. I don't play many racing games as it is, so 120FPS is not high up my priorities!
