Post150 Megadrive/Genesis games at a nice reasonable pace New Games Added
by kerr9000 » Mon Mar 26, 2018 4:14 pm

OK so I needed to do this, it's the announcement of my new thread 150 Megadrive aka Genesis games. This time it won't just be a Sega console instead of a Nintendo one, it will be done in a less stressful more slow paced way. I also clearly already have enough interesting games to do this without investing money. I am also fully open to suggestions for games and if I don't own it I might even fire up the everdrive and review it anyways. Oh and don't worry this doesn't mean there will never be another SNES review, that will be returned to as and when I want to review something, I just won't let it pressure me.

EDIT Wowesers I really let this one slide a bit but I have recently decided to return and add a few games to this, I want to do at least one review for this thread or the SNES thread a month, so feel free if I don't do at least this much to ask me what the heck I am on with

Hope you have fun doing this. I kinda did little reviews in retro games. The difference was I'd give a mini review to the game after an hour's play. It was fun, but hard to do. The SNES stuff you have done has been great and I believe the quality will be just as good with these. Good luck kerr.

1 thing I would like to ask. Say you wanted to review Streets of Rage 2. Would you review it based on a single solo play through or would you review it based on both a solo and co-op run?

I haven't read all your SNES reviews so you may have addressed this in one of those.

I tend to mention co-op in a game if its worth mentioning. I will usually grab my daughter and get her to play a bit of the game with me if I think experiencing it in co-op or against someone is important to fully appreciate it. She was on SONM but shes not on here as of yet.

I own Green Dog and have a bit of history with it so just for you I will make sure its in the first 10 reviews I do. I have lots of loose carts in a shaving bag and a bunch in a wooden box so to start with I'm largely going to dip my hand in to there and pull a few things out, I want to make sure though that its not famous title after famous title, I want to mix up the famous and obscure as well as mix up the genres from review to review.

OK I will add that to the list of the first 10 games I tackle.

I have a rough 10 in mind now taking requests into account for my first few games. Number One is Mercs and I am well into reviewing this... I am also considering Truxton, Beast Wrestlers, Gadget Twins, DJ Boy, Green Dog and Dynamite Heady and then 3 more. Not sure if you actually wanted Atomic Runner Serial, I have played it but dont own it, but there is always the Everdrive if I am correct in this.

Yep, absolutely incredible. I loved the 2D scrolling shooters. I was massive fan of thunder force IV and Terminator 2 with the ‘menacer’, or Tom Jam and Earl..... memories.

As for this well really Id do sonic first then work my way up to sonic 3 and then do sonic and knuckles and probably handle sonic 3 and knuckles as part of that.... probably a really long time until I do that though as id want to space them out so it doesn't become sonic sonic sonic etc

Mercs is all done and dusted and should appear on GRview in the not to distant future only just finished so will probably wait a few days before thinking about the next one, as I did a video and everything for Mercs started playing it again a few days ago before announcing this so the next step is decide which to play next and play it on and off for a few days and well just think about it to start with.

I'd like to see it, but don't feel you have to buy it just for me. Definitely one of the most under-appreciated Mega Drive games.

Best of luck on the endeavour OP :toot: Safe to assume Eswat will be on the list? The boss theme is impossibly good.
