Is it really surprising that he said that?

Actually, if 2012 is the end of the world, we can probably expect PC gaming to rise from the dead.

So, plenty of zombie games, then.

- Wii U to have troubled Autumn 2012 launch like 3DS's, will rally a bit in 2013.

- Vita will do fine.

- Both next Xbox and PS4 unveiled at E3 but with little in the way of footage. Still be exciting on both counts though. Spring 2013 for one, Autumn for the other.

- Half Life 3 announced and shown, maybe at Sony's E3 conference.

Yet his predictions seem quite reasonable...

Nextbox will be announced at E3 but will not release until 2013 - Microsoft will want to try to steal Nintendo's thunder at E3 just like Sony did to them in 2005

Black Ops 2 from Treyarch - Treyarch and Infinity Ward COD games have alternated each year

Halo IV or Bioshock Infinite will be GOTY - Everyone praising BioShock Infinite, it's a multiformat game too

Vita will struggle - Unlike 2005 (PSP's release) it has to compete with multi-core smarthphones

Sony will keep quiet on PS4, probably a 2014 release unless Vita really bombs then it will be shelved - No reason why this won't happen

Perfect Dark 2 and Banjo Threeie will be shown for Nextbox - If Sony's 2005 conference is anything to go by then you'd expect to see some tech demos this year, again something showing off next-gen graphics will overshadow Nintendo

- Wii U released, same situation as 3DS.
- No next gen console announced at E3
- 2 CoD games out, one will be 3rd person.
- Lots of Halo IV stuff shown... will stay in development too long for this generation.
- Rare's IPs outsourced to other devs for Perfect Dark... Wouldn't hold out hope for anything else, maybe Viva Kinectimals.
- Lionhead close after abysmal Fable: The Journey sales.
- 3DTV's that don't need glasses become cheaper and more widespread.
- Half Life 3 teased. Tag line is "When it's done..."
- New AppleTV will support apps.
- Sony integrate the PS3 into their TVs.
- Microsoft buy 2 devs, close 4.
- Gears of War: Pendulum Wars announced.

Just think what will happen if nothing - not even a hint - of Half-Life 3 information comes out by this time next year.

Actually I imagine it'll just be a lot like it is now. Prolonged desperation randomly interspersed with moments of baseless hope.

- WiiU to launch in June for Japan and September for UK and US. Will launch with Pikmin 3, Super Smash Bros HD, GTA, Shenme 3 :), Rayman 2 HD ;)
- 3DS Continues to sell well, but still not too much 3rd party activity.
- All new cell shaded Legend of Zelda for 3DS in time for Xmas.
- 3D Mind Training for 3DS announced
- Vita gets off to a better start than 3DS but sales slw as year goes on.
- Vita price drop in time for Xmas, worth free mem card bundled in.
- PS4 announced and specs revealed. Will be able to control your mind (according to the PowerPoint presentation that is presented at E3).
- Sony say that will launch before NextBox, but no dates given. Will not launch in 2012.
- New Virtua Fighter announced as exclusive to PS3.
- Microsoft show off NextBox at E3 but use PCs running early prototype O/S and "Kinextra". Everyone goes Wow!look at that lighting, look at those textures. A side by side comparison off 360 and NextBox screens are shown on IGN, but nobody can tell any difference (except for things look even shinnier)
- NextBox will not launch in 2012.
- Next Halo to launch on 360 this year
- Console and hanheld game sales continue to go up throughout 2012 despite everyone saying iOS eating into the market
- Finally analysts realise that iOS is selling to a different market and isn't eating into traditional market after all, but simply extending it!
- Sega release all new Sonic in June. Is gooseberry fool.
- Sega release all new Sonic in December. Is still gooseberry fool.

- Xbox 720 to be unveiled at E3 2012, to launch in late 2013. PC gamers scoff at the tech demos, which will look like Crysis 1 on max. Will have Kinect 2 in the box, people scoff how it's just a Kinect 1 with more SHINE JUICE. Epic announces Unreal 3 as a launch title.
- A re-worked Wii U will also be unveiled, featuring a smaller touch screen and a Mario game for an autumn/winter launch. Fails to make enough units to satisfy demand. Valve announces Steamworks for Wii U, EA announces Origin for Wii U, Epic continues to boycott Nintendo.
- Vita to underperform and have a 3DS-esque price cut within six months of launch.
- 3DS to continue to sell well throughout the year, and Western third party increases in the second half of the year. There will be at least one wildly popular casual game by Ubisoft.
- Sony announces PS4 in the second half of the year. PC gamers scoff at the tech demos, which will look like Crysis 1 on max. Will have Move 2, people scoff how it's just Move 1 with more SHINE JUICE. Epic announces Unreal 3 as a launch title. OnLive support confirmed and Steam to directly compete with PSN Store.
- Metal Gear Rising: Revengence to play like a cross between Beyonetta and Vanquish. Platinum fans entirely unsurprised, Metal Gear Solid fans continue to whine.
- Bioshock Infinite to sweep the award ceremonies.

Microsoft and Sega to announce that they are working together on the next gen. Rather than replace the 360 with a new console, they will announce a Blu Ray add on called the Mega Blu Ray and a 1024 bit add on called a 1024x. Gamers laugh that they are repeating the mistakes of the past…
