The destination may have been predictable (y'know, if you ignore the fact no one gave European teams a chance and Brazil/SA teams were nailed on favourites) but the journey was anything but.

The fantastic group stage more than made up for any underwhelming matches in the later stages.

The BBC package at the end summed it up well.

Unfortunately I was one of them, as the pub I was in was inexplicably showing the ITV coverage.

I watched ITV during the game because Lawrenson is a banana split of the highest order. But I watched the preview, HT and FT on the BBC.
