The italians are very used to humidity as they wear suits and leather shoes all summer, whilst we wear shorts and sandals.

Send them all into the jungle in their trackies for a few weeks before the WC starts. Get them doing the beep test in there. That'll fix them.

I am at work, so can't get info too easily - which order are the games in?

And who would we play potentially if we win the group or come second?

Are people suggesting this is the Group of Death? Surely the Germany group and the Spain group are tougher? Still tough group for England, but we certainly have a shot.

In order the games played are Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica. First or second we'd be playing someone from Group C which is Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast and Japan.

Ah, I would have rather not played that Italy match first. You want a decent result to start off on, so ideally the Costa Rica match would have been better.

Instead, we end on the energy-sapping Danger-Manuas match.

I could be in Japan during the tournament so a game against them would be good.

I am not going to Colombia, the Ivory Coast or Greece though.

Yeah, it really is a horrible draw for a number of reasons. As you said the order of matches isn't great, the conditions are going to be terrible and favour the side that can keep possession which isn't going to aid England much. Plus IIRC the team's going to based a few thousand miles away in Rio so travelling is going to impact on the fitness of the squad too. If we get out the group then it'll be a job well done.

I obviously meant we start on the Manaus match, as well.

I suppose being first means we can acclimatise for it a little better and perhaps have more time, and then the later two matches may not be as much of a shock to the system.

My worry is it will knacker us and mess us up for those other two matches. Someone said it is like a tans-Atlantic flight getting there too.

Could get a bit emotional on here at 4am on a Sunday morning after a 0-2 defeat to Italy :arrow:

Absolutely not, in fact if we get through it we could find ourselves in the Quarters.

Radio cut out on the way home so I missed the draw. Come back to find Italy and England in the same group. Oh joy. Was weird watching that match last year as I wasn't really cheering either of them. Hopefully it's a good game either way and we both go through.

I'd imagine it will be England who don't make it sadly. Then again Italy tend to be quite bland in the group stages of tournaments so England of course have a decent chance.
