So much for the time jump. The second half of this day must be coming in another 12 episode season next year. Dread to think what cliffhanger by have in store for next week! Who else reckons Cheng's associate with the sniper is Tony?

Tony would never do such a thing. He will save the day in the next episode.

I watched Episode 10 last night and I have to say, 'so much better!'

The early problems with this series stem from the script and the casting.

* Maybe the Fox scriptwriters thought it would be fresh and unusual to have white English Islamist terrorists but the way it was done in 24 with posh white girl as a professional killer just came across as stupidly far-fetched. Think Byker Grove puts on a stage play of Cracker.

* The use of a UK casting director meant Fox was hiring actors from the same incestuous Equity approved shitty stage schools. The Al-Harazi kids are sub-HollyOaks quality actors. And the husband of the Al-Harazi daughter was atrociously gimpy bad. The son looked like he was impatient to watch the next episode of Made in Chelsea.

* Besides the Chloe rescue, the start of the series had Jack Bauer in what seemed like a supporting role. He was not leading. He was just running, or hiding, or reacting. It's like he was neutered, not because the plot demanded it but because he was underwritten and other characters were given more to do. Now he is in control again and it fits the story better.

Other things I haven't been keen on is the cheap production and Sutherland ALWAYS talking in that gravelly whisper. Maybe a couple of episodes back he was talking normally and it was nice to see the old Jack back! Maybe he's forgotten how to play Jack.

Regardless 10 was fun and I'm hoping 11 & 12 give it a great ending.

Next week's ep is entitled "10:00 p.m. – 11:00 a.m." according to Wikipedia so there will be a few timejumps there. I was really hoping Audrey would answer the phone and Tony would be on the other end. It would have redeemed that awful scene.

Good, I was wondering how they'd make it work. I saw 10pm-11am somewhere earlier and assumed it was a typo

Wow, the last handful of episodes have been classic 24, and I can't wait to see the finale next week. As much as I like Sarah Walker Yvonne Strahovski, the show has markedly improved since Jack Bauer has featured more heavily and the plot has escalated somewhat.

It seems like they've left an awful lot to do next week, so I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't set up another season. I'm also undecided on how I want Jack to go out: going out in a blaze of glory would be amazing but I'd also like to see Jack end up happy after all he has been through.

From an AMA on Reddit with two of the 24 showrunners:

-3. What choices, if any, have you made on the show that you regret looking back? Killing off a character, not killing off a character, including a storyline, etc.

MC: 3. Season 6, Episodes 5-24.

Reading all that AMA, they really seem to have the same feeling as the rest of us.

Gotta agree with all this, but episode 10 was brilliant even though the shock appearance was ruined before.

Episode 11

Apart from the Chinese guy going a bit team America Arek Bawin at points I enjoyed that, bar that terrible and far fetched last scene. How in the float did they know Audrey would be at that place so they could snipe them? :fp:

Also regarding Audrey's husband, it would have been cool if he'd got inside the embassy and then told them Jack was out there and genuinely tried to hide, proper Logan weasel style

How the hell are they going to wrap this up in one episode? pleeeeease no cliffhangers, pleeeeeease.

Unless the final shot is this:

Would have been great to have gone the Logan route with Mark but that aside I think episode 11 was really good. Very surprised that they've left the time changes to the last episode, I have no idea how they'll do it, would be surprised if they just 'tick tock' after the adverts to a completely different time in the day. I guess we'll see.

My prediction: I think Jack may die. Someone over at AVClub pointed out that his character his more bereft of happiness and hope than ever before. He's aggressive to basically everyone and at this point I dont know where else they can go with the character.

Great idea, It could be like season 3's ending. With Jack just breaking down and crying. Instead of in a car, he's crying into a Newcastle Brown Ale.

I don't think we will get a time shift as it has been left to late into the game.

I was hoping things would be a bit more wrapped up but we have to much going on to be resolved in one episode.

I think it will finish with a cliff-hanger, with maybe another 12 part's to come next year.

Thou I also thought Jack would end up in Russian but I can't see that happening anymore.

I'm 90% sure there will be, they said there would be one at the start of the season. No point 24 being 12 hours long.

There definitely is. Minor spoilers: You can actually see the time skip in the trailer.

The last 12 hours is just Jack taking a bath, listening to Enya and trying to just chill the strawberry float out.

I quite like the idea of him ending up in a lock-in in some hole of a pub in the back end of London with Tony. Que montage of craic - drinking, darts, cards, punch up, singing in the street, waking up in the gutter, being stepped over by commuters

Haha yeah, crank calling Kim and roaring down the phone, playing a game of Guess who's the mole in the pub etc.
