Considering passing my 3ds on to one of my kids but wondering how difficult it is to sort the accounts out. I've got the ambassador games and a couple of digital purchases so didn't want to format the machine but I also don't want them racking up spends on the e-shop. Is there a simple way of changing the account but keeping the content on the machine? Or is it a full format job?

Assuming you've linked your Nintendo Network ID (which I think you must have), sounds like your best option is to go into the settings and tell it not to remember your password for the account.

That way the account is still on the 3DS along with the games associated, but they can't access the store without the password (and so can't spend anything).

If you want the content transferred to a different 3DS that's also possible, removing the account and games from the original system.

You should be able to do the job with Parental Controls as well.
