Do you care about 8k and do you even have a screen than can manage it?

I've been super happy with my LGC1 I bought last year and really see no need to go any higher than the 4k it has.
I doubt I'll upgrade any time soon and if I do it'll be for better HDR rather than 8k and I can't see even next gen being able to do 8k justice without sticking to 30fps.

I've got no interest in 8K as, for me, 4K is more than good enough. 4K stuff - console, screen, games, films, broadband - is already expensive without thinking about the costs associated with 8K.

Have we even got consistent 4K gaming at 60fps yet? I’d much rather keep 4K and focus on getting 60fps before boosting the resolution even more.

Although I only upgraded my TV 3 years ago, no plans to get another one for a good few years.

Neither has the Switch

I’d not even be disappointed if Nintendo stopped (in a sense) their first party games at 1080p/60fps, of course they’ll need to bring out new consoles to appease 3rd party developers, but 1080p feels like the sensible maximum for handheld game that you hold a not huge distance away from your eyes.

I don't even have 4K for gaming. 1440p is more than enough for me for now.

I haven’t got 8k eyes. Give me 120fps as standard first.

The mark 1 eyeball caps out at 100fps :( .

Only people who wear glasses can benefit from 120fps.

Given the levels of pop-in and model loading on 1080p still I’d like to see games become playable at last gen resolutions first.

I can potentially see me upgrading my projector to 8K at some point in the (Not at all near) future, but that would be for Movies/TV and there would have to be content for it to make sense.
There's absolutely nothing at the moment so it's just an expensive boondoggle.

4K is going to be more than enough for most consumers for the foreseeable future and I think platform holders locking that in as the target res and then aiming to raise framerates is a more realistic use of the power next-gen systems will have.

I think it’s a natural evolution and whether you care about it or not it’ll eventually be the TV you purchase by default, but it’s not something I can see myself taking advantage of any time in the next decade, even if I did have an 8K TV. The compromises in games will be too stark, whether it’s graphics, HDR or frame rates. Unless you have at least a 65” TV, I doubt you’d be able to tell much difference sat on the sofa between an 8K title and 4K either.

Most UK houses don't have a room large enough to fit the screen size needed to do 16k justice.

It would be well over 100 inches and the viewing distance would be crazy.
