My TV is about 10 years old and I don't have any issues with the picture to be honest. I don't think my old man eyes would notice the difference in a new TV.

I stream my pc wirelessly over steam link to our 1080p TV and that's fine for me, upping the resolution doesn't make a bad game good

8K would be good if games could overlay UI’s over 1080p/4K game resolutions. It would need to be an OS function though.

I sit about 10-11 foot from my TV so UI isn’t high enough resolution at 4K on my TV. Playing Midnight Suns right now and reading text is a nightmare.

First it was all about bits, now it's all about K. All we need now is for Sega to jump back in to the console market with the first "16K" console and we'll really be back

Yep. It's going to be some time until they can get playable framerates at 8K and the technology isn't prohibitively expensive.
