I'm gonna get this, I need to renew my LIVE sub, so that leaves £32 for a 60GB HDD, headset and cable, I don't need the headset or cable, but I'll no doubt snap my current headset at some point and an ethernet cable is useful to have.

It's a ok if you're Acrada->60GB. But 20GB->60GB? No good sailor.

Yeah, where do you get the transfer cables from? Does anyone on the forum have one?

£50 is a decent price. I'll make use of the three-month subscription and the headset can stay in case something happens to my current one. I won't need the cable, though. I still have the one bundled with my 360 unused as I bought one for my original Xbox and then used it for my 360.

Should set up one of those 'pass it along schemes' similar to what this board did with the PSone/PS2 memory unit for PS3.

I've just ordered myself the 120gb for £35....

Although it does mean that I've got to do the upgrade myself :(

But I've saved a bit of money :D

Bought the 120GB HDD from cex for £65 and got a memory card to transfer over my profile as the transfer kit did not work. I plan to trade my 60GB back to them for £33. I now feel fully futureproofed as I have more than enough space for additional game installs and demos along with the quiet gameplaying experience of the disk games!

It's a hack. One that may carry the risk of bannage on Live.

It's not really a hack that could get you banned.

You'll be using the same .BIN file that everyone else is using. This .BIN file will have the same ID as all the other homebrew 120GB drives, and will therefore be traceable by MS. So, it's possible that if they felt inclined to do so, they could ban your ID. I'm not saying they will, I'm merely pointing out the risk.

* A hddss.bin dumped from a retail 360 120GB hdd (I'm not linking to one because they contain copyrighted code. You're smart, I'm sure you can find some way to get ahold of one.)

Question, how do you move game saves and XBLA stuff to a new drive? Can you only do it by memory card?

Someone here said in another thread that the transfer kits don't even work with the 60GB drive.

I'm tempted by this new price, but I think I'm going to go for the 120GB for £90 from Argos. If I add something to take the order over £100, I get a free £10 voucher, plus I don't have the hassle of transferring everything by memory card (which would be a nightmare with only one 360, because it would mean swapping the HDDs at every step). And the double-sized capacity is worth having. I reckon even the 60GB HDDs are going to fill up quickly with game installs.

Yep, I bought a transfer kit from cex and it only works when transferring from a 20GB HDD to a 120GB HDD, however there is an updated version of the transfer kit, which comes with the cd that allows the transfer of data from a smaller or equivalent hdd to another hdd. I just bought a cheap 64mb memory card to transfer the stuff over and it worked well, but remember to transfer the game saves first and the profile over last to the memory card, otherwise it won't let you transfer the remaining stuff once the profile is off the original hdd.

Hooray!!!

The diy upgrade worked fine.

The upgrade method has been around since the middle of last year. So far no bans.
