OH NO!! THAT MEANS MY 360 AND ALL MY GAMES AND ALL ITS FUTURE GAMES ARE NOW WORTHLESS AND UNPLAYABLE!!
Exactly.
Does this mean that I'm going to be suddenly deprived of games to play on my Xbox? No.
Does this mean that my gaming is going to feel suddenly hollow and shallow because sales figures for my particular console are down? No.
Does it actually have no baring on anything in my gaming life and mean only a tiny bit more than jack gooseberry fool to anyone other than Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony themselves (all of whom aren't exactly going south in their support anytime soon)? Yes.
Why worry about sales figures at all this gen? We're not exactly in Dreamcast territory here, where sales means the console itself might get canned prematurely. We've all got good games to play on everything without this constant navel-gazing. Competition's a good thing for us, the consumers, so let's enjoy it.
