Seems Eurogamer came under fire from their readership for there recent CoD article and so issued a response. Not sure I believe the sincerity of the site's reasoning given their business model.

Thoughts?

Hello! While we will remain assiduous in our reporting on this issue, we won't be boycotting coverage of Activision Blizzard games. I genuinely don't think it is the right thing to do. While well intentioned, I am not sure who such an action would help. Certainly not the thousands of people who work on those games and who are fighting for better working conditions - arguably, it would disrespect them and their efforts. And not our readers and viewers either, whom we have a duty to inform to the best of our ability, and that includes reporting on the games themselves as well as the conditions under which they are made. I believe the way for a publication like ours to best help build a better gaming culture is to report with transparency and honesty on absolutely all of it, games included.

My thought is that games journalists reporting on ActiBlizz should include a disclaimer at the top of every article mentioning the ongoing court case.

An absolutely jaw dropping thread based on a WSJ investigation into AB and Bobby Kotick's actions. He surely has to resign.

The backlash if he does stay would surely be huge.
It's an absolute PR nightmare.

Can't help but feel the top brass will close ranks, a flimsy public apology will be made, a few lesser management will be let go as a sacrifice and Kotick will keep his job.

*edit*

Yep he's going to keep his job. An update from Activision -

"The Activision Blizzard Board remains committed to the goal of making Activision Blizzard the most welcoming and inclusive company in the industry. Under Bobby Kotick's leadership the Company is already implementing industry leading changes including a zero tolerance harassment policy, a dedication to achieving significant increases to the percentages of women and non-binary people in our workforce and significant internal and external investments to accelerate opportunities for diverse talent. The Board remains confident that Bobby Kotick appropriately addressed workplace issues brought to his attention.

"The goals we have set for ourselves are both critical and ambitious. The Board remains confident in Bobby Kotick's leadership, commitment and ability to achieve these goals."

Absolutely strawberry floating disgusting.

But not in the least surprising. ActiBlizz is Bobby's personal cash cow.

They will say things like that as long as all the money in the world keeps rolling in at their feet.

If protests hit the company's pockets, then they'll soon change their tune once it affects them. Sexual harassment is only really a problem if it tarnishes the company image to the point where the profit margins get hit.

I approve of the sentiment, but eating something that rich and greasy is just asking for nausea.

Even though a lot of ad revenue comes their way via Activision even Eurogamer think Kotick needs to jog on

Just looking through the list of Activision releases over on Wikipedia and it looks like the last time I bought a game they published was CoD 4 back in 2007, and even that I bought second hand so didn't give them any cash directly.

I can't say that I've felt the loss of not playing any of their gooseberry fool for the last 14 years
