Really? I dont get any kind of sponsorship and nor do any of the other channels I know.

All our revenue comes from ads.

I pay for YT Premium and it's by far the up there with GP as the best subscription service I use.

I watch/listen to a lot of long form documentaries, podcasts and content so having this with no adverts and having the app in the background is fantastic. The only down side is the in video advertising where the channel/person you watch tries to sell me a VPN or Hello Fresh nonsense.

Doubt it, at least not through any official apps. Not sure if the Xbox has a browser that allows for custom extensions? That's the only thing I can see that would work there.

Static adverts belong in text, just like the ads in a newspaper or magazine. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

If I was sat reading the Metro on the bus and somebody shoved their phone in my face with a video on it every time I turned the page I’d probably lamp them. This is what video adverts and even more specifically content feels like when I’m trying to just read an article. Eurogamer are one of the worst for this.

I’ll happily watch video ads during video content because I’ve been doing this on TV for 40 years.

I watch a lot of tech YouTube. Some of those creators I also follow across Medium and listen to their podcasts. They make most of their cash from sponsorship deals. Eg MrMobile, Tech Spurt, Mark Ellis Reviews, Mrwhosetheboss etc

Yes, but a website isn't a physical newspaper.

I understand the need for ads to fund things. But I don't think I'll ever be happy about them.

I understand the need for ads to fund things. But I don't think I'll ever be happy about them.

Which is why I will continue to blacklist websites that pivot to video and white list those that don’t.
