Apparently it will be 8 episodes in its first season (although I can't find an official source on that), not 12-13 as I had read previously.

Agent Carter at Comic-Con -

Tara Butters and Michelle Fazekas will be running "Agent Carter."

"Captain America" movie screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, wrote the "Agent Carter" pilot.

Marvel executive Lou D'Esposito, who shepherded the "Agent Carter: One-Shot" DVD bonus feature will direct the first episode.
Russo brothers (who did "Winter Soldier") will direct the second and third episodes.
He also just got off the phone with "First Avenger" director Joe Johnston, and they are hoping to get him to direct episode 4.

"Agent Carter" hasn't started shooting yet. It will take place in 1946, post-WWII, with Peggy trying to pick up the pieces of her life.Loeb notes that there will be things happening in SHIELD present-day that they can show the origins of in Peggy's time.

Edwin Jarvis Cast in Marvel's Agent Carter

James D'Arcy (Let's Be Cops, Cloud Atlas) has landed the role of Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark's butler and an unexpected ally to Peggy Carter on Marvel's Agent Carter, due on ABC this winter.

Marvel.com reports that D'Arcy's Jarvis - originally the Stark family butler in the comics but turned into an AI program (J.A.R.V.I.S.) voiced by Paul Bettany when paired with Tony Stark in the MCU - will "help Peggy (Hayley Atwell) navigate her way through what may be her most dangerous mission yet"

D'Arcy joins the previously announced Chad Michael Murray as SSR Agent Jack Thompson and Enver Gjokaj as Agent Daniel Sousa.

There's yet to be an announcement regarding the role of Howard Stark on the series, though Atwell herself hinted strongly in an interview that it's Dominic Cooper.

See What's in Store for Marvel's Agent Carter in the Official Series Synopsis

Synopsis for for season 1 arc and also confirmed cast list from Marvel.com
"Marvel's Agent Carter" comes to ABC in 2015 and we've got the official synopsis for you right here at Marvel.com! Read more about what you'll see in the series, the cast and crew involved, and be on the lookout for the series debut in 2015.

ABC presents its second action packed series from the creative minds at Marvel in “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” inspired by the feature films Marvel’s "Captain America: The First Avenger" and Marvel’s "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," along with the short "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter."

Years before Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team swore to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive, there was Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger," Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), who pledged the same oath but lived in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts.

But no one should ever underestimate Peggy.

It's 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America.

When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy - the only person he can trust - to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy, “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction. But Jarvis, who is a creature of habit and sticks to a rigid daily routine, is going to have to make some major life changes if he’s going to be able to keep up with Peggy.

If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Agent Daniel Sousa and Shea Whigham (“American Hustle,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) as Chief Roger Dooley.

Tara Butters (“Resurrection”), Michele Fazekas (“Resurrection), Christopher Markus (Marvel's “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), Stephen McFeely (Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger,” Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), Chris Dingess (“Men in Trees”), Kevin Feige (Marvel’s "Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”), Louis D'Esposito (Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel’s "Iron Man 3”), Alan Fine (Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel’s "Thor”), Joe Quesada (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble”), Stan Lee (“Spider-Man,” “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk”) and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville,” “Lost,” “Heroes”) are executive producers. “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Knowing them they'd be at least four weeks behind the US anyway, so no great loss.

The Jarvis thing will be interesting, I was under the impression that (possible Avengers spoilers) Paul Bettany was playing a Human Jarvis in a flash back sequence in Age of Ultron. Considering Marvel try not to have different actors in the same role (in the same time period) this would cause a clash.

I thought that too until the latest Jarvis casting. I guess Paul Bettany will be playing the Human Torch instead (assuming he is even in the flashback)

Casting addition -

Image

Bridget Regan (John Wick) is the latest addition to the cast of Marvel’s Agent Carter. She will play the recurring role of Dottie, a small-town girl from Iowa who’ll have a huge impact on the life of Agent Carter. The new ABC series, which premieres at 9 PM January 6, bridges the fall and spring editions of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Inspired by the Captain America features, along with the short Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter, it is set in 1946 and centers on Peggy Carter who, working for the covert Strategic Scientific Reserve, must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark. Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Chad Michael Murray and Enver Gjokaj star. Regan previously recurred on White Collar and currently recurs on CW’s Jane The Virgin. In addition to John Wick, her feature credits include Sex And The City.
