Just finished the Writer! Found it much better than the signal and almost wanted it to go on longer! Has actually got me excited for a potential sequel! The "cliffhanger" leaves me wanting more too!

Just hope they varey it a lot more next time! Good work though!

I'm just here for a moan. I managed to collect 99/100 thermos flasks whilst using a guide. I've replayed the first 2 chapters and the 2nd half of chapter 5 as I thought I'd missed one there. I don't know if I can be bothered anymore.

I feel your pain.

Could it be the final thermos? When you walk up a long weird pathway to the cabin in the finale?

You turn around at the start of the journey up to there and flash your torchlight on the words and a Thermos should pop up. At the right beginning.

It was the one I missed out on.

This might not be what you want to hear but if you followed a guide for all locations, how did you miss one?

I don't know how I missed them. I even watched a video walkthrough after finishing the game and remember picking them all up. I've got the one mentioned above, thanks anyway. I'll go back to it in a few months and have a fresh play through on Nightmare to pick up the last achievements.

I think the thermos disappeared after you've picked them up, on a new run through. The same can't be said for the manuscripts though!

Perhaps you died and that particularly thermo got resetted? Haven't recall that ever happening to me though...

I missed one at the part where the train attacks you. It's behind the shed and a sod to find.

I ran away from the train. Or tried to.

I hope Alan Wake hits the gym for the sequel.

Running out of breath after just a minute. :fp:

Alan Wake 2 listed on CV

Alan Wake 2's seemingly been outed by an artist's LinkedIn CV.

The page in question lists "Alan Wake 2 [In-Game Cinematic]" as having been worked on just last month.

It's the first outright mention of a sequel following job listings from Remedy Entertainment, advertising for a senior level designer to join its "AAA console team".

Remedy has previously said it's confident that the IP has a future and described it as a series with "legs".

However, sales of the game suggested otherwise. Alan Wake faced stiff competition from Red Dead Redemption and only managed to generate 145k sales in its opening month, though it's since cleared one million copies.

I really hope Remedy confirm Alan Wake 2 at E3.

Me too. I finally got round to reading The Alan Wake Files recently and it added a lot to the story. Especially about Agent Nightingale. I think this is something that could work like Silent Hill in that they could take it in all sorts of directions. A sequel could even revolve around another character, like the guy who "wrote" The Alan Wake Files and how he came to be drawn to the town through his dreams. It really does have potential to grow into a rich series. They just need to improve the repetetiveness (which never bothered me) to hopefully get the sales they want.

Not providing a link to something PC-related, I like that.

Officially announced for PC, out Q1 2012:-

Remedy Entertainment is proud to announce the PC release of Alan Wake. Coming in early 2012, the game will give PC gamers the Alan Wake experience they have been patiently waiting for. Remedy is a developer with deep roots in the PC space (Death Rally and Max Payne 1 and 2), so the game will have the high resolution polish that longtime fans will expect.

The PC version of the game will also include The Signal and The Writer downloadable content.

Alan Wake tells the story of a best-selling writer suffering from writer’s block. He goes on vacation to the small town of Bright Falls with his wife, Alice, to gain back his creative flow. Shortly upon arrival, Wake finds himself trapped in a nightmare when his wife mysteriously goes missing. He keeps finding pages of a manuscript he apparently wrote, but can’t remember writing. The manuscript is coming true. An involving psychological action thriller, Alan Wake raises the bar in storytelling and creating a suspenseful cinematic experience.

Release window sound familiar? That’s because Alan Wake’s American Nightmare for Xbox Live Arcade will also be available in the first quarter of 2012! For more information and updates, please visit Facebook http://www.facebook.com/alanwake and Twitter @Remedygames.

Welcome home, Alan.

They look fine on 360 :shifty:

Although I'll pick it up on PC with all DLC at sale price; more power can't hurt and I like it enough to pick it up on PC.

This would be a Day 1 pirate if I didn't have so much to play already.

Just started playing this on PC. It's very linear, isn't it? I mean, even in the diner, when there's only one corridor to leave by, it's so controlling it even puts a little immovable cart on wheels down one side of the room, so I have to go round the counter clockwise rather than the other way, just so I can pass the two guys at the jukebox. Not that it couldn't have done the other thing it keeps doing and dragging my attention to something by halting control of the game and focusing the camera on them.

I guess it's to be expected with a narrative based game.

It looks very pretty, mind, although there are a few sketchy textures in there, and the less said about the pre-rendered movies obviously captured on the un-upgraded 360 version, the better.
