So I noticed the odd QR code to scan on the walls and noticeboards in this game. There's one in Alan's office that gives the following message:

Huh. Turns out this isn't too bad even if you're not sitting on a couch when you play it. Who knew!

Really enjoying this, getting a Silent Hill 2 vibe from it. Plus it looks fantastic on PC.

Had a surreal moment, I watched the first show talking about quantum suicide machines and the other worlds theory of Hugh Everett and I had been writing about these exact things not two hours before launching the game. Creepy.

I've been playing the original recently on 360, and I'm about halfway through chapter 3 at the moment. Largely I'm enjoying it, it's quite atmospheric and the storyline is compelling me to carry on, but the combat is frustrating and repetitive and it is a bit off-putting.

I'm glad it wasn't just me noticing that.

Slightly depressing read about what Alan Wake could have been: Alan Wake: Remedy’s American dream

One of the most interesting things in there is the mention of the free camera in the PC release. Anyone on here played around with it?

Remedy’s Sam Lake teasing new Alan Wake? “It will happen again in a town called Ordinary”

Remedy lead writer Sam Lake’s either gone and lost it on Twitter or he’s started teasing a brand new Alan Wake.

He tweeted the following last night: “It’s all true. ‘It will happen again, in another town, a town called Ordinary.’ It’s happening now.”

The tweet contained a link to a short story that basically screams ‘Wake’. This is what part of it says.

“In the dream I was visiting the previous owner of my house at the nursing home, only in the dream the owner wasn’t a sweet old lady, he was a man, and he wasn’t old, he was a young man with a dark hair – very good looking in fact. I remember that he was wearing a funny jacket with old-fashioned elbow patches.

“I was there to find out about the shoebox, but he was very agitated and didn’t listen to me. The place was brightly lit, it was sunny outside, but he was still very anxious and wanted me to turn all the lights on.

“He kept going on about the place being too dark. I remember being certain that all the lights were on already, but that didn’t calm him down. In the end he was screaming for me to turn the lights on. I was also starting to freak out, starting to think that something horrible was coming to take us away, and that’s when I woke up.”

Remedy’s not been shy in saying it’s been looking to continue the Alan Wake series. The studio’s head of franchise development Oskari Hakkinen told VG247 back in February the series’s last installment, American Nightmare, wouldn’t be the last we’d hear of the troubled writer.

“Alan Wake in general, the intellectual property, is ours, and it’s not the last you’re seeing of Alan Wake,” he said at the time of the release of AW.

That quote is also the hidden message in Balance Slays the Demon (when it's played backwards):

It's pretty quiet, so listen closely. So it's almost definitely Wake-related.

Crazy reading that quote above with the Ordinary and shoe box references to Control all the way back in 2012!

Going to be announced next week apparently, I’ll grab it on PS5 if it’s a good remaster

I've been wanting to replay it recently so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the PC version will be a free upgrade. This'll be Remedy's first remaster though so we'll have to see how they approach it in terms of pricing.

Hope so.

I'll buy it if it's coming to PS5.

Don’t forget, the next-gen update for Control wasn’t free.

Oh really, I didn't realise that as I played it via PS+. Guess it'll probably be £20-30 then.

This is great! I've not played the game but would very much like to try it. I hope that the visuals have really been updated to take advantage of the newer systems.

If it is coming on 5th of October. What's the chance of it becomes available on PS+ for October?

Anyway, I will buy it for PS5 for sure if it doesn't come to PS+.

Yip, releasing on the first Tuesday of the month would certainly suggest a possible PS+ game. Control on PS5 came straight to PS+ too.

The trailer was pretty disappointing. I really couldn't see anything different from the original on PC.
