Aaaaaand were done. I've not hammered through a game that quickly in a while. Not since I completed Fahrenheit in one sitting :shifty:

A good, yet flawed game. I've no idea why it took so long to make. You'd think they would have given it a good ending :x That ending is some straight up bullshit. Props for the credit music though

This game seems to tempt me to leave the path and venture into the forest for some reason. I stand there looking into the darkness and think "I need to go walking there" knowing that if I do I'll get jumped. It's weird but it really feels like I'm missing out if I don't.

Remedy chats Alan Wake 2

For a developer that refuses to confirm outright whether or not Alan Wake 2 will happen, there's a whole lot of sequel talk coming from Remedy.

Speaking to the latest issue of OXM on the topic of plot twists, turns and cliffhangers, head of franchise development Osarki Hakkinen said, "The pieces will start to fall together."

"The first episode is The Signal and shortly after that we'll follow with The Writer and if there's one thing we can promise it's by the end of The Writer you'll definitely know where we're going to go with Alan Wake."

"We not going to leave you on a cliffhanger. Our plan was that Alan Wake is Season One, core story, the DLC bridges to where we're possibly going to go, and then Season Two is a full story."

"You don't even need to have played Season One to enjoy Season Two - they're full story arcs."

Sounds to us like Hakkinen knows exactly what's going to happen in "Season 2".

Remedy has even described the tone of the Wake sequel and yet still insists it isn't confirmed. Such teasing.

Oh I loved everything about it especially when things return to normal. So awesome. Silent Hill 8 really needs to be as fluid and feel as quality as Alan Wake does or I'll be disappointed.

The Signal 1 & 2 is basically the end of the game which they have chopped off :x

It also has gooseberry fool level design. STOP SPAWNING STUFF BEHIND ME. STOP MAKING AUTO AIM AIM TOWARDS STUFF I DON'T WANT TO DESTROY.

I got this in the sale on base.com last week. The presentation and story telling is impressive, although I wish all the chapters were the same length. Some seem to take much longer than others which makes the TV series feel a little skewed.

I'm enjoying it but so far (up to just past the mine) but it has been far too repetitive. Its just the same enemies over and over and over with the same method of killing them. Not to mention that you are always just running through the forest at night. It needs more variety in my opinion. I think it is purely the story and the odd creepy/cool bit that is keeping me going, but now even the scares are starting to repeat. I agree with Fatal too about stuff spawning behind me. It feels a bit cheap. The fact that it was so long in development is surprising.

As I say I have enjoyed it up until now but I really don't know how much longer I can stick with it because it feels like the same level over and over. Hopefully it will spice up the mix a bit.

That was my problem with the game, same enemies all the way through, same way to kill them, too many forest bits, and well it is surprising considering how long we waited for the game to begin with.

Signal 1 DLC was pretty poor. When's the second part out so I can actually end the game? :|

Just started this on the Nightmare difficulty.

Despite all the tips on screen about running away and go towards the light if overwhelmed.

It would be lot better if Alan Wake can actually run. He's out of breath after just few seconds of running! :fp:

I believe The Writer DLC is due sometime in the autumn, nothing else is known beyond that.

The Writer DLC to be the last, says Remedy

Remedy boss Matias Myllrinne has told Evil Avatar the new second piece of premium DLC for Alan Wake, The Writer, will be the last for the game.

The first episode, The Signal, released back in the summer as both a free bonus to owners of the game and a premium product on Marketplace.

It was thought for a while we’d get a third DLC episode thanks to another Myllrinne interview, but the news was a case of being lost in translation. No date or price for it has been given yet.

It's a real shame, I would have loved at least one more DLC pack from Remedy. I really hope we get Alan Wake 2 now.

I'm not surprised they aren't doing a third DLC.

The game is pretty limited in a way, and a third episode would be just too samey. I have high hopes for the sequel, now that the engine is all finished and hope they will come up with better game design in terms of puzzles, enemies and offer potential different methods of defeating enemies.

Really, I can't see how better the story or how it will progress. We'll know when The Writer DLC is released.

The Writer has a release date! \o/ It's the 12th of October, so it's not too far away, actually.

Trailer: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-debut-alan-wake/705208

Looks awesome  Looks it might still be rather combat focused, though.

Combat focused, one of the many reasons I absolutely despised The Signal. Zero atmosphere, even less story and nothing but mindless blasting. If this is more of the same then I won't bother - that actually says a lot because the original game remains one of the best horror/thriller games I've played.

True, I loved the storyline and atmosphere of the main game and hated that DLC - it was basically a combat challenge that was full of re-used assets - maybe they had no budget for anything else since the game didn't sell huge amounts and was single-format. If there's no storyline or even glimmer of what exactly is going on, then count me out

I think the main problem is that they said that the end of Alan Wake was the end of Alan Wake, and the DLC wasn't going to carry on the story, so they couldn't make the DLC story driven and instead had to focus on the not-quite-as-good-in-large-doses combat.
