I'll be getting it when I get some more points.

I actually quite like the Alan Wake combat :shifty: Apart from the annoying "OH HEY GUYS THERE'S AN ENEMY BEHIND YOU LOL" camera.

Oh gooseberry fool it's out now. Didn't even realise. Might wait for someone else's impressions, but I also do want to know the end of the story (probably still pretty confusing).

Just finished The Writer. I liked it, it was better than the other DLC but the ending wasn't that great. All the ending did was set up a sequel, it didn't really add any closure to the story. Pretty short too.

Just finished The Writer, i agree with Tragic....it is kinda short and the ending does kinda set up for a sequel (that i hope we'll get) but all in all i loved it. Once again, insane Alan on the TV was the star of the show for me. I loved the final battle. Biggest disappointment i have to say was probably the ending :( I hope Microsoft give Remedy the go ahead for Alan Wake 2 :)

The Writer have pretty annoying platforming bits. :fp:

The problem it doesn't work very well as Alan Wake is NOT a platformer. And the ending does set up for a sequel. Hopefully they'll sort out the flaws of the entire game and then maybe "The Return of Alan Wake" will escape from the average shacks.

I'm playing The Writer now.Not really enjoying it to be honest. I felt that with the main game the balance between daytime sections and nightime ones was good and i enjoyed the change of pace. These episodes have just been combat heavy and, for me, not very enjoyable at all.

How? There are actually very little time you get to play in daylight.

The Writer is supposed to be Alan Wake trapped in his own imagination which went manical. He's hardly going to write about himself going "la, la, la!" and start dancing the chicken dance in front of other characters, so I'm sure that setting the entire episode in daylight would defeat the point of the game.

I thought the lighthouse setpiece is actually one of the best set pieces in the game.

This just arrived from Lovefilm. Going to make a start on it tonight. :D

Is it frightening? I plod through scary games at an alarmingly slow rate. I'm still on chapter 5 of Dead Space.

It's extremely atmospheric with jumpy bits but not scary, no.

I'm probably just annoyed because I'm gooseberry fool at the combat

Doesn't sound like you've mastered the dodge Fishy. It's the key.

It's about as "extremely atmospheric" as a walk around B&Q.

Nah just messing, it's not so bad. It frequently jars in places - an over-exposure to rickety combat, gooseberry fool dialogue, and the game generally not taking itself as seriously as it perhaps should.
But at the same time, it's one of its biggest strengths - it's easily digestible, the TV show "previously on..." general style is fantastic. Definately worth a playthrough.

I wouldn't say it's scary as such...but it is gripping/edgey. Good atmosphere, good gameplay but terrible acting.

Still...I'd say it's XBOX360's best game this year. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
