Big props to SpaceJebus for picking Travels with Myself and Another, awesome album from an awesome band.

I'm pretty sure that Exxy was talking about The Mars Volta and not FOTL though. Super Extra Bonus Party - Night Horses is on Spotify but Adebishi Shank aren't.

As for De-loused...

I haven't listened to this album for ages especially not all the way through so I was looking forward to sitting down and listening to it all again. The first 5 tracks still sound epic to me with the singing really fitting with the music despite the lyrics themselves being pretty cryptic. The second half though I'm not as keen on with the tracks seeming to alternate between good and indifferent for me. Though that could also be due to the fact that it isn't easily listening first thing in the morning and that might cloud my judgement a bit. I'll give the second half a listen on it's own now.

The vocals did start to grate a little for a couple of songs in the latter part of the album, not very nice to be relaxing in bed to.

EDIT: Gonna make my pick for album now, but i have no way to check if my album is freely available on streaming sites. Could someone please check these for me?

Super Extra Bonus Party -Super Extra Bonus Party (or Super Extra Bonus Party - Night Horses)
Adebisi Shank - This Is The Album Of A Band Called Adebisi Shank

If neither of those 2 are easily available i'll just go for Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over The Sea.

Awesome album

I was originally going to do the Melvins' latest album, but it disappeared from Spotify, then Sunn O)))'s Monoliths and Dimensions, but it wasn't there. So now I'm doing:

I already have the Mars Volta record somewhere, I went through a Mars Volta phase a while back. Haven't listened to it in a good year or so though, so this is a great excuse to get back into them. I've also remembered I still haven't posted my thoughts on HM's choice yet. I'll try to do them both together tomorrow.

The actual reason I'm making this post though is I want to change my album nomination. Don't despair those two of you who wanted to listen to Ladytron - I'm still picking one of theirs. Although they're both good records, I'm starting to think Witching Hour might slightly edge Velocifero for a whole album experience, so I want to change to that one instead. That is, if it's not too much trouble.

I've heard the name Mars Volta floating around a lot on here, and it's usually been followed by gushing praise, but for some reason I never gave these guys a listen. Damn fool that I am. I may actually buy this album, I like it that much. A very pleasant surprise :D

I've tried getting into TMV but I can't :( Don't like the vocals at all really.

I would like to change my nomination as well if I can, to this.

The National - Alligator

Highly regarded and need more attention, great band. Was unsure whether to go for this or Boxer but I chose this, no real reason, I like them as much as each other.

De-Loused is awesome. Much better than Frances The Mute.

Mars Volta- I really wanted to like this band when I first started listening to it, however the vocals really irritated me, and I doubt I will listen to any of their other work.

I've listened to the majority of The Mars Volta's releases, and I've never thought that the lead singer sounds like a woman. How odd.

He's the singer in At The Drive In, y'know.
