I got it for free (gift from a friend...don't worry he got it for free too...) and I feel really bad for not completing it...

But it's so...dull...

I just told him I finished it. :shifty:

I've gotten off the ship.

It was a grind, the enemy soldiers are so dull and strawberry floated up.

It's clear that gear box have the same idea across all their games for higher difficulties, just like Duke and borderlands, the higher the diff, the more shots it takes to bring a guy down (second highest diff on this garbage takes half a pulse rifle mag to put down anything, regardless of where you hit them, head, knee, hand, butt, doesn't matter) but if they give you a stern look you'll loose all your armour.

To be fair, it throws armour at you continuely, even on the harder settings, and ammo, kinda destroys the whole survival horror, but honestly I never really got my hopes up.

Fairly early into it, but the game seems to punish me for wanting to use the pulse rifle, it's so weak, I've increased the mag size because it shoots strawberry float all, half a mag to bring down these clowns, so I'm forced to use the assult rifle bullpup thing and tactical shotgun, which I don't want to strawberry floating use, I want to use a pulse rifle god damnit! Oh and the shotguns, the hicks shottie or the tactical one, so overpowered, they make a joke of the Aliens, it's like, "oh, the wayland guys are off for a coffee, time to roll out the aliens again for a few minutes, time to bring out the shottie that kills them in one shot everytime from pretty much any distance". :simper:

I'm not going to go over the stuff thats already been seen or said, the AI really is a disgrace, your own guys are the worst, and it looks so bland, but at times it does look good, I mean, the first 7 minutes of the game, when you're on your own and you're using the motion tracker and everythings strawberry floated up, some nice lighting and the original nods to the locker rooms of the original marines, finding half of bishop is really nice, then you meet a marine buddy, you quickly realise the motion tracker is redundant and the AI strawberry floats everything up, the aliens, your guys and the Wayland fucknuts.

My mate bought this too, so i'll probably go through it with him co-op, it might be more fun, highly doubt it though, it's just really sad to play, they had such an opportunity and they wasted it

I really only bought it for the gubbins, the powerloader model is really nice, a great little model, and some of the extras are great to own too, the ships blue prints, the patches for a jacket etc, I love all that tat.

My copy arrived today; the Collectors edition is *really* nice. The packaging is high quality, from the terrific 'hive' outer-cover, through the great box and into the papers and badges. The Powerloader figurine is terrific, and the game is the limited edition version with original Alien characters DLC. Brilliant! For thirteen quid it's a stunning-looking set.

And now I'm a bit nervous about actually loading up the game. Perhaps it'll offer some adequate shooty gameplay fun? Maybe the feedback has been a wee bit harsh? Has the patch update enhanced the gameplay into a terrifying battle against the shocking xenomorphs, with atmosphere seeping from lush openworld scenes, leaving me desperately trying to finish the fight and save humanity?

As I lovingly look over the wonderful package, I'm in that 'maybe it's gonna be awesome' stage... don't tarnish the dream ;-).

I suppose if you see it as buying the model for £12.99, which is probably a lot less than an equivalent model would cost on its own, then that could be considered ok if you're a big fan and ditch the game immediately

When something gets as conclusive a hammering, I don't think so.

Well I finished it.

That ending :|

Playing this is like self harming, that's my conclusion.

So do the patches actually make it kind of worthwhile or is it still pure gash?

I think that answers your question.

Makes me glad I wasn't almost suckered into that £12.99 offer for the collectors edition. I have enough crap already.

Playing this Co-op is a strawberry floating mess.

See the AI for the aliens is to bypass everything a run right at you, but when there's two of you, the Aliens have no idea what to do, they'll run right up to you then turn and go after the other guy, you shuffle about abit and fire a few rounds and they'll stop and turn to attack you again :fp:

I couldn't imagine how broken it would be with 4 people playing co-op.

I bought the Stasis SP DLC today. :shifty: Looks okay. Won't bother with any of the other DLC, though: all MP-only DLC? No thanks!

Downloaded a copy of this off the high seas, purely to see how terrible it is. And you know what....

..... yeah it's gooseberry fool.

Also runs my like gooseberry fool on my PC, which I admit is getting on a bit, but the whole environment would start clipping and go see-through, with moments of slow down and the like, general buggyness that sort of thing. Having said that, the intro music, menu button sounds and the pulse rifle sounds are awesome. It also manages to get a lot of the atmosphere of the film and there have been moments where I've been a bit uneasy with proceeding into a xenomorph hive, with marines strung up on the walls with their chests burst open. I haven't got far enough to see the game spiral into endless waves of cannon fodder, but it's clear this should have been the definitive Aliens game. Such a waste :fp:

I'll probably still complete it though, I imagine it's pretty fun(ny) playing sofa co-op on the console versions, wonder how much they're going for now.... :shifty:
