Question, I fancy going back and reading some 90’s Marvel starting with the Onslaught storyline, what issues should I start with where they start building that storyline up?

These guys have pretty good reading orders, especially for x-men. I worked my way through the 80s x-men using their help earlier this year.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I always thought the Onslaught stuff was very underrated, I remember absolutely loving it as a kid then growing up and finding out it had been shat all over. Obviously the Heroes Reborn stuff was a lot of rubbish but I maintain the core series was fun!

Cheers!

Yeah I read the Onslaught stuff years and years ago when the UK reprint comics had it, I remember really liking it and it being a huge deal (think it was the first big company wide event I had ever read)

Age of Apocalypse was the highlight of the X-Men back then. Unlike most comic events they were happy to kill off multiple characters each issue. It also introduced Sugarman and some of the best character moments for established heroes and villians. It's ridiculously dark but it's perfect. Scott and Jean, Mr Sinister, Banshee, Sabertooth, Blink and the X-Man all shine in this.

Fatal Attractions is also great, basically Magneto goes too far and the X-Men have to go to his base and deal with him. Massive consequences for Wolverine and Magneto. It also sets the stage for Onslaught and the version of wolverine seen in that.

Kieron Gillen's Eternals #1 is out today. Will see how long I can last with this until I get fed up of him writing everyone as a smug bellend like he does in everything else.

Mori I'm up to date on my DoX trades, what else do I need to buy? I've just ordered Empyre X men because it's part written by Hickman. Is X of Swords collected in the DoX volumes or do I need to buy the separate collection?

If it's too late to cancel you're not going to want to hear this but the Empyre X-Men issues will be collected in Dawn of X too. I'm expecting X of Swords will too, that would be Dawn of X 17.

Empyre X-Men is Dawn of X 13 and 14 according to Wikipedia and the X of Swords prelude issues are in Dawn of X 16.

Ah ok, order cancelled. The pacing on these DoX releases has been all over the place.

Is Fatal Attractions the one where Magneto rips the adamantium out of Wolverine’s bones and turns him into this weird feral thing for about two years?

Yep that's the one. One of the truly shocking comic book moments. Wolverine was interesting for a while then went full feral. The reveal of his bone claws in the danger room was great too.

Marvel are allowing a public vote for a spot on the next X-Men team. Presumably Hickman's come up with the rest of the team.

https://www.marvel.com/characters/x-men ... pen_text-3

Choices:

Armor
Banshee
Boom Boom
Cannonball
Forge
Marrow
Polaris
Strong Guy
Sunspot
Tempo

I’d vote for Banshee or Polaris. I thought Strong Guy was dead?

No idea who Tempo is.

Not up to date on the Hickman era? Everyone's alive again if they're not a pre-cog.

Not read any X-Men stuff since the first two issues after HoX/PoX. Waiting for the omnibus.
