Axel Alonso is gone from Marvel and they've got a new editor-in-chief. "Mutually parted ways" which sounds to me like he was pushed out. Not surprised after the past few years, I bet all the Secret Empire press and the shambolic Legacy stuff was the last straw.

I read Secret Empire today. What a load of strawberry floating gooseberry fool that was.
The story wasn't all that interesting but it's the EPIC style of the writing that makes the whole thing really stink.

"Captain America took to the skies, like a legendary falcon or summat, and every one of the Marvel heroes, who are like god's and stuff, gazed towards the heavens to watch him soar like a big mythical bird thing. And everything that was happening was really, really important"

The whole thing is written with a real head up its own arse tone to try and get across just how big a deal everything is but it just comes across as try hard guff. If there was half as much scene setting writing it'd actually be a better book.

Anyway, what's the reading order for Secret Wars?

Do you mean just Secret Wars or the Avenger run before it as well? If it's just Secret Wars then do by this:

Secret Wars #0-4, Thors #1-3, Secret Wars #5, Siege Vol. 2 #1-3, Secret Wars #6, Siege Vol. 2 #4, Thors #4, Secret Wars #7-9, and then go back and read whatever tie-ins interest you.

If it's the whole Avengers run as well then go by this first:

Definitely read Hickman's Avengers run before Secret Wars. And Fantastic Four before that.

Is there a list of printed TPBs anywhere for that? Might try and pick them all up in the new year, I've not really heard anything bad about Hickman's run on the Avengers/Secret Wars.

The engagement aside I've not been a massive fan of King's Batman run but Batman #37 was absolutely delightful. Between this and Mr Miracle, King is great at writing couples.

I see Marvel have announced another relaunch in May after previously saying they weren't going to do another relaunch anytime soon after Secret Empire :lol:

They strawberry floating needed to do one to be honest because it's a mess just now. Good to see Jason Aaron is on Avengers (like everyone predicted) and the lineup is pretty cool.

I really love this line up (except random Ghost Rider? I don't know, won't judge it until I read it). I'm kind of excited for it but trying to keep my expectations low since Marvel haven't been the best recently.

I mean, yet another re-launch is pretty stupid, but I can forgive if it turns out to be good.

It was cut off by Malekith a few years ago after Thor became unworthy and couldn't use Mjolnir, and Odin made a replacement metal one for him (he could have just grown the arm back for him but I can't remember the reason why he didn't)
