Found an Amazon marketplace seller who was selling a load of rare marvel trades for like £4 each. They cancelled the order like a day after it went through and I was refunded fully. When I spoke to Amazon Support, they gave me a £5 voucher as an apology for the inconvenience.

All but three of the twenty one trades I ordered arrived today.

But.....

After the first order was cancelled I tried ordering some of the same books to test if everything was out of stock. That order was also cancelled and refunded so it's probably arriving tomorrow.

Captain Kinopio wrote:Been on a big Aliens media binge throughout December, which has seen me dive into several of the Comics having researched for the best ones. I’ve never really thought comics were for me and though a few of these have been enjoyable enough they’ve on the whole not changed my mind. I just find the story telling lacking and most of these boils down to just ‘Aliens strawberry float people up’, and these are supposed to be the best from 30 years of story telling I find it a bit lacklustre. I’ve generally preferred the ones I’ve read in Digital format so maybe if I do stick with it I should focus on that.

Anyway here’s what I’ve read in the past few weeks and some rankings

Aliens Outbreak: ***
Aliens Labyrinth: ****
Aliens Prometheus Fire and Stone: **
Aliens Fire and Stone: ***
Aliens vs Predator Fire and Stone: ***
Aliens Predator Fire and Stone: ***
Aliens Omega Fire and Stone: **
Aliens Dead Orbit: ***

Aliens Nightmare Asylum: ****

Maybe because I left a gap between getting to this, but really enjoyed this one. As a sequel to Outbreak I found the story a bit more of a satisfying continuation of the Cameron Aliens story, the ending was a nice surprise to and Ripley at the end is just :datass:

Looking forward to moving on to Female War.

A lot of omnibuses coming out over the next few months I have my eye on:

JMS Spider-Man Volume 2
Claremont X-Men Volume 1
Dan Slott She-Hulk
Mike Grell Green Arrow Volume 1
Justice League International Volume 2
Simone Wonder Woman
Preacher Volume 1

Very interested in that JMS Spider-Man one - his was the run I really grew up on and I know it’s not the most celebrated of AMS runs but I loved it right up until Back in Black and One More Day.

Claremont X-Men as well, they were rarely better than in his rebooted series.

Didn't notice Marvel are finally reprinting Millar and Morrison's Ultimates omnibus. About strawberry floating time. Of course Amazon have it for £40 more than Speedyhen as usual

I see Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men is also getting reprinted too.

EDIT: looks like there's a lot of omnibus reprints

Remender's Uncanny X-Force
Bendis' Daredevil
Claremont's Wolverine
Annihilation
Peter David's Hulk

Probably more.

If you find the Amazon page months before an omnibus' release date you have a chance of getting a price comparable with Speedyhen. Normally though yeah the price difference is crazy.

Wondered why X-Men was suddenly £1 dearer than the previous issue on Comixology

Today ComiXology princes have changed, not only making up the subsidy but going further. Despite the actual exchange rate today being $1.29 to £1, the price of a comic on ComiXology is now 1:1, pound to dollar, more expensive than any comic store in the UK right now, for the first time.

It's a massive jump. A $4.99 comic, which sells in comic stores in the UK from £4 to £4.50 generally, used to sell for £2.99 on ComiXology.

Today it sells for £4.99. that is a two-thirds jump, 66%, far more than just the Brexit currency change would have demanded. To put it all in dollar terms, right now ComiXology UK is charging $6.44 for a $4.99 comic, despite not incurring shipping costs. When last week they charged Brits $3.86 for a $4.99 comic. They have been subsidising the pound's collapse for some time.

Read the first 5 issues of Jason Aarons Thor run (Gorr the God Butcher) and its really good, love the way it flicks between the different versions of Thor to tell the story. Will move onto the Godbomb stuff this week

Aaron's Thor run never gets as good as God Butcher/Godbomb again but it continued going for another 5 years or so.

Also said in that twitter thread that he was offered the X-books last year.

Seems most publishers will not be shipping comics this month nor add them digitally?

I'm still cracking on with Marvel through the Marvel Unlimited app, i'm at the tale end of 2012 stuff now. Read more of Fractions Hawkeye, Started Hickman's New Avengers run and Remender's Captain America run.

Going to start Superior Spier-Man i think, loved what I read of that run a few years ago.

I cancelled all my digital subs when they hiked the prices.

If you're reading Hickman's New Avengers you kinda need to read Avengers as well.

Oh wow yeah, I mean New Avengers is the better half but you need to read both.

Yeah most pullled digital order to support (or not undermined) physical stores which wouldn’t be getting hard copies
