Memento Mori wrote: Maybe this is controversial of me but I don't think there are actually that many great Spider-Man stories you can pick out and read in isolation. I love Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man but you really need to read all of it, you can't just isolate a story.

This is probably fair. There are good "runs" of Spidey, but I don't think there's top tier stories.

Even the "classics" like Night Gwen Stacy Died or Harry's death have aged horribly,.

Go read One More Day. It'll be funny :slol:

Any Forbidden Planet.com customers having problems? I've got a load of books stuck in the "Awaiting Stock" phase, so I'm guessing there's a major distribution backlog they've been hit by. FP has been very good throughout corona.

There was something the other day about a load of Marvel stuff being delayed so could be a knock on effect from that?

So I've just signed up to Marvel Unlimited, what runs do people suggest to start reading?

Haven't read comics since the original Civil War story (2006-2007) so got a good few years of missing out to catch up on.

Hickman Fantastic Four and then Avengers:

House of X/Powers of X
Apart from the Shadowland event, Daredevil has been consistently good to great for over a decade. Start with Bendis' run.

Excellent question. What I thought they were doing was collecting all the Hellfire Gala issues in their own trade only like they did for X of Swords, because for a long time they hadn't announced any Reign of X trades past #11 which is everything up to HG. However they've now announced the solicitations for Reign of X #12-14 which is HG and beyond. So all of us Reign of X collectors can ignore the Hellfire Gala trade.

Gee I wonder why people say superhero comics are hard to follow. Thanks for the tip.

Btw, in the end I bought the X of Swords hardcover and only one or two issues were duplicated from "X of" trades.

Yeah it's just the X-Men and Excalibur prologue issues which are in both.

Have IDW lost the Ghostbusters license?

Been reading some the GN's I bought a year or so ago, popped on Comixology yesterday to see if any more had been released but the search term brought up zero results. Went onto Amazon and they don't have the kindle versions up any more either :?

Anyone here using Marvel Umlimited?

Just re-subbed, not been on the app since the update, how I used to save my books was I would save the individual issues and set the sort function to oldest pub date and that way I was able to read everything in time order. Now it seems you can only save whole series? So even when you are halfway through a series it still will sort it by the date of the first issue of the series, very annoying! Any way to fix that?

Very sad news about George Perez. I've got loads of his stuff on my shelf, he was great.

Rather than keeping up with current stuff, this year I have gone back and started to read older Marvel stuff from the late 90's. Just finished going through the Onslaught saga last night, I still like it but I had to skip a lot of the tie in's as it was getting way too bloated.
