Is that advice?

I got 9 volumes in and it just feels like a 5edgy3me 14 year old tried to do The Walking Dead. The 'big reveal' splash at the end of volume 1 was just so ridiculous that I cracked out laughing.

For anyone curious, the final (bar one) panel is of a family, mum, dad and 8 (ish) year old girl...

Dad has been disembowelled and is being arse raped, mum is calling him a cocksucking ****** (or words to that effect) whilst also being raped and the daughter is literally being ripped apart limb from limb whilst everyone watching is having a good old wank.

Don't worry, I'm sure it's commentary on.... I dunno, strawberry floating something.

Ennis always veers the line on edginess but Crossed is him going well over it

Any recommendations on graphic novels based on folklore/horror vibes similar to Mike Mignola style?

I got his Hellboy omnibuses, the first Baltimore one and I have wish listed his BPRD series plus one offs like Mr Higgins comes to town. Anything else out there in comic land that is in a similar style?

I'm not sure how similar it is but Perhapanauts dealt with stuff like cryptids. If I remember rightly it may have veered more towards superheroics than horror but I haven't read it since since about 2008 so I'm not sure. Proof dealt with cryptids too but I never read that.

As a big fan of the 2099 imprint from the early/mid 90s I don't know why I keep coming back to Marvel whenever they tap that particular well. I was pretty disappointed with Spider-Man 2099 Exodus Alpha (Ghost Rider 2099 is
a building now??
). Issue 1 was, fine. except, y'know, there was barely any Spider-Man in it. Winter Soldier 2099 was fine but if the miniseries is just going to be "look at this new character I made, now onto the next issue with another new character" with little to no Spider-Man I'm not sure I want to get invested. I had the same issue last time they revisited 2099 a couple of years ago but at least then each issue was advertised as a standalone. Just a shame they weren't very good (and yes, I know the original 2099 universe had some duds)

3 issues in and I'm about ready to bail on Spider-Man 2099. Once again the titular character is barely in it. Instead we just get a dull Loki story. And honestly, if it didn't say "2099" on the cover, you'd barely know it was set in that universe.

A great artist. The Long Halloween was the first DC book I've ever bought.

Has anyone got any go to places to get back issues?

My girlfriend has got in to a Marvel comic at issue 3 so I am after the previous two issues from a few months ago. I've found both on eBay but wondered if there were better places to support rather than scalpers.

In the UK, generally eBay. Since it's Marvel, you might have luck at a local Forbidden Planet or similar.

Does it have to be physical? She not interested in going digital with it?
